My very favourite thing about Christmas is the giving of gifts. I spend a lot of time thinking about what to get for each of my loved ones and even my children’s little friends. It’s a magical time of year for me and I admit that I lose myself in it a little. Thankfully, I’m a fan of re-gifting and pre-loved so it doesn’t have to break the bank but when I do buy new, I try to buy handmade as much as possible.

This Christmas I’ve stumbled across some beautiful things and narrowing it down to my favourite 5 has been a difficult task, so if you’re stuck for inspiration this Christmas – here’s a list of ethical, handmade giftmakers that not only create amazing products but buying from them means supporting a local business and their family too. Perfect!

5. Lulu and Flo. Beautiful, vintage children’s dresses lovingly designed by Lucy to honour the traditional French dresses she so loved for her own daughter. Unique and exceptionally well made, Lulu and Flo dresses are a classic, understated and elegant design that will make beautiful gifts for little people everywhere. Don’t miss them: www.luluandflo.co.uk

4. Wee Tootie. Scottish company, Wee Tootie have been creating unique and vintage hair accessories for over 4 years. Having grown in popularity extremely quickly, Wee Tootie are in high demand. Lucky locals can catch founder Emma attending regular craft fairs, but others have to be quick to catch her designs as she no longer takes regular custom orders due to high demand. Check out their eye-catching range over on their facebook page: facebook.com/weetootie

3. Bunting & Bows. Founded in 2009, Bunting & Bows has gained massive popularity and a loyal fan base with their unique and visually stunning products. Their best-selling cushions and bunting are second to none and are treasured in homes across the UK. Made to a very high standard by talented seastress Beth, Bunting & Bows products are now stocked by a variety of UK boutiques. For a very reasonable price, you can buy your loved ones a highly personalised and timeless gift. Visit them over at: facebook.com/BuntingBows

2. MadeWithLoveAndLace. A recent start-up, MadeWithLoveAndLace is a Lancashire based business founded in 2013 by the crafty and talented Emma. Creating everything from Jewellery to Cards and Handbags to Personalised items made from your baby’s old clothes, there’s nothing she can’t turn her hand to. With an eye for detail and flair for design, Emma’s creations are gaining popularity and I have to say I’m a very big fan myself. I recently spotted her latest addition of hairbands for little girls and am preparing to make an order soon! Regularly attending craft fairs, keep your eye out if you’re local or visit her facebook page for beautiful and unique items at extremely fair prices: facebook.com/madewithloveandlace

1. The Pink Fairy Cake. Richly deserved, my absolute favourites – The pink fairycake. Making everything from soya candles that look good enough to eat, to crocheted goodies and even their best-selling fabric wall mounted unicorn heads. Everything is just… to die for. Sadly, they are in such high demand that customs slots with The pink fairy cake are like gold dust. But, you might just get lucky so be sure to ogle their goodies over on their facebook page, and keep your eyes peeled! facebook.com/thepinkfairycake
