National Allotments Week takes place from 8 - 14th August and allotmenteers around the country are organising events to display their plots.
In Brighton, the 14th August sees the launch of the city’s first organic allotments at Foredown. Elsewhere in the city you can buy plants and vegetable seeds at Roedale whilst enjoying tea and cake and vegetable fritters or take part in a jam making session at Craven Vale.
Take part in a Scarecrow Competition at Eden Allotment Garden by bringing your creations along to the site at Carrickfergus, County Antrim on 7th August. There is also a flower show in Carrickfergus on 14th August where allotmenteers can display their wares.
Visit the site of the Old Trafford Amateur Gardeners in Manchester to browse their plots and check out the community orchard from 8-14th August.
As these events are typically organised at grass roots level it is difficult for us to find out everything that is going on so if you have an event that you’d like to share, please post about in on the comments form below. Thank you!

Our own Open Day (in Cheshire) took place last month already. It went really well - you’ll find some pictures at this link:

At present we’re thinking about the advantages and disadvantages of self-management. I’m sure there are a lot of other allotmenteers in the same situation, so would be glad to hear from people on other sites who are going through this process at the moment.
Best to all

There is an allotment open day in Newbury this Saturday (7th) at Southby’s allotments, just off Greenham Road. From 12 noon till 3pm. Allotment tours, fresh produce stall, cakes, bbq, face painting, tombola and more.
Best wishes,
Suzy
