Roll up your sleeves for the great dolphin bake off. Adopt a UK Dolphin is a scheme run by the Sea Watch Foundation to protect and conserve our native dolphins and harbour porpoises and this winter they are encouraging families to get baking for the dolphins.

From November 21st to February 21st, Adopt a UK Dolphin is encouraging you to roll up your sleeves and dust down your rolling pin for a dolphin biscuit bake to raise funds for our endangered flippered friends. For the bake-tastic winners and runners up in each of the three age groups (under 8s, under 16s and adults) in two categories ‘most funds raised’ and ‘best looking biscuits’, there will be prizes of a Zoggs snorkel and mask.

Organisers hope that participants will be baking and selling at parties and fairs for Christmas, New Year, Valentines Day and all events in between. Suggested recipes are available, but adoptadolphin.org.uk is hoping that entrants will also use their own recipes, and share them with others. Dolphin cutters are available through the site’s shop for just £2.50 to cover post and packing – or design your own!

Adopt a Dolphin Administrator Kirsten Hinter said: “We all know that dolphins are cute, but they are also fun loving and we want people to really enjoy this challenge, making their dolphins as whacky and eccentric as they like. The more ideas the better – we hope to feature as many as possible on the web site. All monies raised help support the work of Sea Watch in researching our wonderful marine mammals and in helping to shape effective conservation policies with Government and other bodies in the UK and further afield.”
