A circular skirt is always a show-stopper and it’s surprisingly easy to make your own made-to-measure pattern. The lovely folk at The Textile Directory have a pattern for a gorgeous coral coloured organic cotton skirt but you could substitute this for any fabric or design that suits you.

• Brown paper or newspaper
• Tape measure
• Calculator
• Set square
• Pencil
• Paper
• Dinner plate
• Metre rule
• Fabric
• Scissors
• Pins
• Sewing machine
• Sewing thread to match fabric
• 20cm zip
• Small button about 2cm
• Hand-sewing needle
