INSPIRATION
Emma and I both suffered with problem skin in our youth and spent decades using the wrong or ineffective products. It wasn’t until travelling in Australia in 2004 I discovered a brilliant book about using natural botanical oils and extracts as skincare alternatives and we began to make our own products. We were also becoming more and more morally aware of cosmetic testing and the use of animal products in skincare and were trying our best to avoid supporting these unnecessary practices.
BEST BEAUTY ADVICE
Embrace who you are! It’s about being comfortable and confident with yourself and not bowing to trends or unrealistic conventions of ‘beauty’.
DESERT ISLAND PRODUCT
A multi tasking product like our own Rosehip and Tamanu Scars and Stretchmark Oil. We already use it for everything! It would be perfect for taming sun bleached flyaway hair, nourishing cuticles and moisturising even the driest, sun worn, sensitive skin. Containing purely fruit and nut oils (and no essential oils) means we could also eat it if we needed too! Although we obviously do not recommend this!
WHAT’S NEXT FOR YOUR BRAND?
Although we have plenty more skincare products in the pipeline, our dream is to expand into vegan accessories. We’ve discovered an amazing company that has developed vegan leather from pineapple leaves. We want to make it easy for people to give up their leather bags!
TAKE ACTION AT HOME
• Look for multi tasking and re-fillable products wherever possible. Lots of brands, big and small, are now embracing this approach.
• Look for bamboo alternatives to a wide range of household products - from toothbrushes to flannels and towels to toilet roll. It is such a versatile and sustainable material.
• No more wet wipes! If you absolutely have to use them, never flush them!
