Hi, I’m Sam and I live on the border of Northumberland and Cumbria, near Hadrians wall with my hubby, our two boys (7 and 2) and our dogs and chickens.

We home educate our eldest, he went to school until the end of year 2 (last June) but was unhappy and it destroyed every bit of confidence he had - when a 6 year old comes home from school and tells you he’s stupid and will never be able to read there is something terribly wrong, the school wouldn’t listen so we had a ‘trial period’ at home and he’s so happy and says he never wants to go back to school. We don’t have much of a home ed community locally - it’s about an hour away to either of the groups I’ve found so we mostly do things on our own.

I love dog training, knitting, sewing, growing our own veg (I’m very interested in permaculture) and I’ve just started playing at woodwork but I’m quite isolated since we decided to home ed, the locals don’t really talk to us since son one left the school and I don’t go to as many dog shows as I used to so I’ve drifted away from alot of my dog friends :-(

Looking forward to getting to know you all

Hi everyone, as I sit here feeding my 4 month old son I think about how much you have all helped me in this last couple of months without even knowing it.

I have been reading the forum for a few months now whilst waiting for my membership to be approved and day by day I have become more confident in my
decisions about how me and my husband are going to raise our son… If you had known me 12 months ago I had different views on parenting (never judging
others) but just thought my parenting path would be different.

So here I am breastfeeding my 4 month old who is wearing a cloth nappy, with his beautiful (small) selection of wooden rattles on the bed (when nobody
understands why he doesn’t have a huge amount of flashing bright plastic toys), last week I found myself arguing the point with the nurse about vaccinations,
this week I found myself listening to why apparently me feeding my son is disgusting (by my own sister) and I want to say thankyou to you all for helping
me to know that I am doing the right thimg and that there are other people out the doing what I am doing

Hello,

I thought I would just introduce myself.

I am Jenna. I am a 25 year old mother to be living in Nottingham City.
I am an artist (If you want to have a look at my work you can have a look at my website or facebook )I am also a face painter.

I love painting, drawing, gardening, watching films, music or almost every Genre, cooking and hanging out with my 2 cats :D

I have joined this forum to meet some like minded parents. My first baby is due on June 12th. Feeling fairly isolated currently. Most of my friends are still in the middle of their party party lifestyle and I guess my pregnancy has freaked them out in some respects. I get quite lonely right now :(

Looking forward to talking with you all..

It feels good to be back - rather like slipping into warm, comfy slippers.

Hi Everyone! I’m Jane, 31, and I live in North Somerset with my husband and my wonderful little boy who’ll be 3 in March 2013. I’m a full time Mummy at the moment and very much in to being as eco-friendly as possible, human and animal rights issues, natural and organic toys and clothes, and non-toxic makeup and household products. I love kindness, music, reading, horse riding when I get the chance and I’m about to join a yoga class (quite nervous as a newbie!). I’m hoping to meet other parents with some similar interests/values and I’m really happy to have found these forums Look forward to getting to know you all. x
