We are moving to a new home (rented) tomorrow and today when I went to visit again I realised that there isn’t an oven, just a microwave with oven function.
I am so annoyed that we didn’t notice this before!
I have never had a microwave and don’t really like the idea of them, and seeing as all I do in my spare time is bake I am a little frustrated and panicking!
Have any of you baked anything using a microwave oven? Any tips?
Or any ideas on how to persuade landlord to get an oven for us

We live in my MIL’s house, most of the time I’m content and grateful for the lack of rent/mortgage and the sense of community/ family living but sometimes I get frustrated that I don’t have my own house…..does this sound silly? I really like the house and my MIL and I share a similar aesthetic so there’s no real problems there, it’s just sometimes I think that I would like to look around and see ‘me’ reflected in my home, not ‘me and everyone else’! Also the space issue, which is ok now the children are little but will def be a problem in a couple of years! Does that even make sense?! Anyway, the point of this thread is this: does it matter if where you live is not your own home? Is owning so important? And how would you make it more your own? Thanks in advance everyone xx

We have an ant invasion in our kitchen. I cleared out all the floor-standing cupboards, scrubbed them clean and wiped them out with a strong peppermint solution (had heard this discouraged ants). No change. They are still parading around everywhere. I have ensured all things like flour and so on are in properly sealed containers, and try not to leave any crumbs or similar titbits that appeal to ants anywhere (though my partner needs further encouragement on this one), but does anybody have any effective natural solutions? I really don’t want ant powder in our kitchen…

I’m getting really tired of having to re-wash the childrens clothes because stains haven’t come out. I’ve tried using the Ecozone stain remover in combination with their laundry whitener and i’ve also tried soaking the clothes in white vinegar for half an hour beforehand but nothing seems to work.

Has anyone else had a similar experience and did you find anything that helped?
Am i being too fussy expecting all the marks to come off the clothes? Should i just accept that Ecoballs simply aren’t going to give the same sort of performance as conventional detergents?

a little bit obsessed with hanging washing out on the line?! lol

I’m loving having all this new baby stuff to wash just so I can hang it out on the line… I’ll even go around the house on a good drying day and find stuff to wash just so I can hang it out. I washed all the nappies yesterday and they were all out on the line today along with the new towels.

Hubby is going to build a sort of lean to/car port thing at the side of the house over the summer, and I can have a washing line under there as well so I can hang the nappies out even if it’s raining. And I’m so excited at that prospect.

I think I perhaps need professional help!
