Does anyone have a good pattern for wool wraps they’d be willing to share, and also, what is the best wool yarn to use for knitting them up in? I’m trying to give myself every incentive to cloth nappy as much as possible this time, and I know using handmade wraps would be a big plus for me!

Thanks in advance ladies x

My nappies and wraps smell of stale wee :(. Even the new ones my MIL kindly bought me that have only been used twice, so surely they can’t need stripping. What am I doing wrong, it’s really upsetting me at the minute (maybe because I’m hormonal too,)

If its a wet nappy I just put it in the bucket, a dirty one gets all the poo rinced off and washed under running water as much as possible.

We dry pail in a bucket with a lid with a mesh bag in with about 5 drops of tea tree oil in the bottom.

Nappies get washed every day (previously was every other or 2 days as we were using disposables too)

Get washed in Fairy (I hate using P&G stuff, but neither soap nuts or ecover were working so tried this but still not working) with a squirt of bleach every now and again. As recommended in the instructions when I got my original ones.

Dried either outside on the washing line or inside on a maiden.

I love my cloth nappies but them smelling is really bugging me. I don’t want my baby having a smelly bum when it’s clean :( no one wants to smell of stale wee and I don’t want people to think I’m not looking after her properally. Please give me some ideas as I’m getting desperate and I know there is a wealth of experience on here and I have never heard anyone else having this problem.

Following on from my excited thread about getting some cheap motherease.. How do you deal with partners uncooperation? My partner thinks I’m mad and is waiting for me to fail, love him! I might yet, I don’t know. But he has refused to change a single nappy (he doesn’t really anyway) he thinks its disgusting that someone elses child has wee’d and pooed in them (even though me and the kids buy second hand everything..almost and lo and behold we have a washing machine!) I won’t convert him but if they work out well then he will be thanking me I’m sure seeing as I’m not going back to work after maternity leave in april so our only income will be his which is meagre and we’ll be living very frugally!

my beloved cotton bottoms have come to the end of their useful life as nappies, having done me very well through 3 children over almost 7 years! However, i was wondering what to do with them now!! I have kept a couple as oil rags, floor mops, dog feet cleaners, chicken towels!!! But wondering what to do with the remainder…it seems a shame to through them out!!! thanks, Tori

Just wondering if anyone uses them and what you think?

We are leaning towards the Bamboozled/Stretchies which look lovely and soft but does the Velcro fastening last?

Also, as a complete novice, I wonder if having a wrap over the nappy is not too bulky? I don’t want pocket nappies but I also don’t know much about wraps!

Sorry ladies and gents. I knew I would be asking a lot. This morning we’ve tried our first washable. They’re mothereease birth to potty. So they’re meant to last until potty training- but they’re on the last set of popppers and still a real stretch to get over archies bum and legs. Its done up but feels ever so tight across his thighs and lower back. Also, because there’s so much bulk his chubby legs are kinda splayed out and can barely fit in his bumbo seat. Any ideas?

Hey up,

Something I’ve been mulling over for a while, as a range for my selling page is crocheted wool nappy bags that could be lanolised.
I loved wool soakers when Rye was a baby (wish this had occured to me then) and was impressed how great they were; anyway, occurs to me that wool nappy bags would work great too.

What you think?

I’m a bit busy with orders at the mo, but I think once I get time I’ll make up a sample… anyone like to test it out for me?
