Come on all, share your favourite soapnuts recipes.

I recently started using soapnuts in my laundry and want to use it as a floor cleaner to help deter ants. Problem is I try to boil it but do not get any suds?

While I’m on the topic, who uses soapwort and where do you buy it. I don’t have a garden so can’t grow it from home? I would like to try it as it is a local bush.

I really want to buy some nice baskets but can’t find any well priced ones anywhere. I keep looking in our charity shops but it seems no one here uses a basket or if they do they never relinquish them!

I like these kind:
http://www.africanmarketbaskets.com/products/

But any nice ones really, ones that look lovely as part of your homes decoration ....anyone know of a good place to buy?
Thank you x

We are moving to a new home (rented) tomorrow and today when I went to visit again I realised that there isn’t an oven, just a microwave with oven function.
I am so annoyed that we didn’t notice this before!
I have never had a microwave and don’t really like the idea of them, and seeing as all I do in my spare time is bake I am a little frustrated and panicking!
Have any of you baked anything using a microwave oven? Any tips?
Or any ideas on how to persuade landlord to get an oven for us
Making anothers house your home

We live in my MIL’s house, most of the time I’m content and grateful for the lack of rent/mortgage and the sense of community/ family living but sometimes I get frustrated that I don’t have my own house…..does this sound silly? I really like the house and my MIL and I share a similar aesthetic so there’s no real problems there, it’s just sometimes I think that I would like to look around and see ‘me’ reflected in my home, not ‘me and everyone else’! Also the space issue, which is ok now the children are little but will def be a problem in a couple of years! Does that even make sense?! Anyway, the point of this thread is this: does it matter if where you live is not your own home? Is owning so important? And how would you make it more your own? Thanks in advance everyone xx

Ant invasion!

We have an ant invasion in our kitchen. I cleared out all the floor-standing cupboards, scrubbed them clean and wiped them out with a strong peppermint solution (had heard this discouraged ants). No change. They are still parading around everywhere. I have ensured all things like flour and so on are in properly sealed containers, and try not to leave any crumbs or similar titbits that appeal to ants anywhere (though my partner needs further encouragement on this one), but does anybody have any effective natural solutions? I really don’t want ant powder in our kitchen…
