Alternative to dioralyte

HI All,
DD has d+v, only about 12hours so far and hoping it will disappear and just a bug. However to be on safe side I thought get some dioralyte as she is not eating and what water she drinks comes straight back up. DD is 20months and was told dioralyte is prescription only so could not get any at chemist, rang docs and asked if coul dget prescription and told she is not ill enough to need it and to see a doctor it would have to be next week anyway as they are busy.Today is Wednesday and bank holiday looming, so me being panic mode, just wondering if there is any fact in the theories around that you can make your own dioralyte, or offer them a watered down still sports drink, flat lemonade etc. I know when DS had noro when he was little doc told us flat lemonade - didnt quite believe it at the time lol
Thanks as always

Please tell me more about yoga

I have done dvd’s at home, been to a couple of classes many years ago which weren’t great, but I feel the need to exercise daily and would love to incorporate more yoga into my life generally. I have the Shiva Rea daily energy dvd and love it (Vinyassa Flow Yoga if that makes any difference).

I have also heard yoga talked about as a lifestyle, what does that mean to you?

Many thanks,

... what’s the next best thing? I have recently began to dislike water… No idea why although maybe it’s hormone related because its been since ds2 was born (drank it by the bucket load when pg with him!) Anyway, I’ve been drinking squashes but aware they’re not great. I drink tea and coffee (both de caf and caffeinated and I also occasionally have herbal teas but again its something I’m going off of since ds2s birth!!

I’m looking for a cold drink… Any suggestions? Xx

Any ideas on how to unblock wax in my ears? Not the most pleasant thing to think about I know. I’ve got impacted wax in my ears, left being really bad as the ear drum is totally hidden and after having it syringed, they only got a little off. What was underneath was totally dry and won’t come off with syringing. So I’m oiling every 2 hours and the going to try syringing tomorrow ( my friend is a practice nurse and is doing it for me)

Has anyone found anything particularly good? Any little tricks you’ve tried? It’s making me dizzy, deaf, tired and nauseous!

Starting this 7 day ‘diet’ this week although it is more of a detox for me to try and get me in the right frame of mind for dieting, but spirulina is so expensive the cheapest I have found is amazon. Anyone know of a cheaper supplier? thank you.

dry skin patches on tops of arms

I’ve had small areas of dry skin on the upper outer sides of my arms intermittently for as long as I can remember. I thought that it was perhaps from the soap I used, I don’t have any at the moment and have drastically reduced the variety of toiletries etc in the house over the past couple of years. However, the same type of dry patch has just appeared on my one yr old dd, just one arm but same place. She doesn’t bath very often and has never encountered any type of soap. I make my own detergent so maybe it is this… Maybe a new food type… I’m a bit stumped tbh, I’ve not been that fussed for myself but am more concerned about my baby having the same problem….. has anyone else had this? Any ideas? Tia xx L

Is this asthma?

DD has in tthe last 6 months or so had some really nasty coughs, the kind that are really tickly and make you cough until you are sick. But they last a day and then they are gone. No sign of a cold, but she does sound nasally. I have noticed a pattern that when she has had a day outside then she will get a cough. This would coincide with her being more active. And thinking back I noticed whenever we went to soft play or a toddler group she would be ill afterwards, which may be coincidence, and more down to immune system.

However, sometimes when she has this cough, she also gets a temperature, which again is gone within a day. Just not sure what is going on, but am getting fed up of these coughs! When would be a good time to see the doc? when she is coughing, or when she is well? I know when they queried asthma with DS3 the couldn’t diagnose it until he was well. But then he wasn’t showing signs, so I never took him back!!

Chicken pox and measles

Can you get measles if you have been vaccinated against it?

Chicken pox is doing the rounds at school, several children (at least 5) have been or are off with it in the last week or so. The classes are very small and do intermingle.

I haven’t got a clue about this sort of thing but Alice has spots a temperature and is very emotional, not sure what to do.
If it gets itchy what can I put on it? Do I have to contact the doctor, does it need medicating?

Help please
*Could* it still be chickenpox?

Rowan has a rash of spots that look to me exactly like the very first stage of chicken pox, but only on her face. She’s had them for three days. She seems TOTALLY fine, cheerful, perky, hasn’t had so much as one day of whining or feeling tired or anything. They’re not itchy. They haven’t blistered.

She has no spots or rash anywhere else on her body, and I’ve been checking her tummy/back regularly because I can’t shake that it *must* be chicken pox… But no itching? No symptoms of being unwell? It could be an allergic reaction to something, right? The only thing I can think of is that Jenna painted her face with watercolour paints the day before the spots came up, but I know for sure that Rowan has painted herself with watercolours before and not come out in a rash.

Any ideas? :S
