I’m starting to panic already, as I know if I don’t get organised soon then I’ll never get around to anything!
I was hoping our allotment would be up and running so I could make some chutney etc but that will have to wait till next year! Same with knitting (one day I’ll learn lol!).
Last year I made bath bombs with my 6yr old dd and everyone loved them so we’ll probably do that again this year - she had a lot of fun making them, and they are quite quick & easy to do!
I’m planning on making some little bendy fairy dolls for my 5yr old niece, along with wet felting a playmat for them. However, I attempted a bendy pirate doll for my son’s birthday the other week and let’s say it was an interesting result lol! I may have to resort to buying them from Etsy instead. I may also make a felt horse for my horse daft little sister (who’s 30 but I’m sure she’ll love it!).
(I don’t tend to make gifts for my children as we do the whole “Santa” thing and I think it would ruin the magic if they saw things that were made by me, besides, I’d rather they knew that certain things were made by me, and I’d rather take time to make things for their birthdays instead without the usual Christmas pressure. Thinking about it, if I was to start again I’d really cut back on the whole “Santa” thing and put more emphasis on making gifts ourselves, but it’s one of those things that’s already out of the bag iykwim, besides, that’s another thread altogether!)
Another idea I saw that I might make for my mum was a bird bath - mosaic onto a large terracotta saucer and “glue” this onto a large upside down pot - something I can make with the kids!
The past few years the kids have been involved in a Christmas card exchange on one of the home ed lists and they really enjoy making these as well as receiving them. I also try and make my own cards for family but again, I’ll need to get started soon as every year I am up late on Christmas Eve finishing them!!
