With a mountain of washing I can’t get through, seriously its as tall as me.
With Saule peeing through every cloth nappy I put him in and the nappy wraps apparently not so waterproof or at least not containting all of the wee a seven month old can produce.
With the tiredness of waking every bloody night every two to three hours.
And with the general stress of life at the moment never mind the christmas hoo-har!

I have bought eco-disposables to remove the stress of washing loads of nappies, clothes, blankets, and cleaning up wee stains from where Saules been sitting.  Will put off dealing with this problem till the new year.

Fancy telling me which your favourite nappy wrap is (going over tots bots)?
Or just sympathising wink

I toally get it, I have the biggest of the big wetters, I swear! We out her in a sposie at night now just because it’s more comfortable for her and I don’t have to change her in the night. Sainsbury’s Ecos are brilliant. It was my birthday today adn I couldn’t be arsed with the nappy wash, so sposies it was, all day! I shall be drummed off the forum now wink

Don’t blame you one bit Sarah, give yourself a well deserved break smile  My DD was never a really big wetter, used Totsbots with ME wraps and they always worked well.

Well if you get drummed off Rachael….

It will be following behind me carrying a full drumkit!!

Ive used either Naturecare ( shock ) or Sinsburys eco-disposables since Phelan was born AS we dont have a washing machine!
I had to weigh it up and decided I couldnt face either the time or cost (v. extortionate here in Bath) spent in laundrettes, not to mention having to travel to one without a car when DH is at work.

So lets have no guilt Sarie angry

Just ((((((Hugs)))))) to you for the tiredness and good luck with that washing mountain!

Hey - were in sposies at least 50% of the time too, sometimes much more. DON’T feel guilty - every bit of cloth you use is one less sposie in landfill, we can only do our best….sometimes that is loads, sometimes we need to put family/health/sanity first!

Jake was a mega heavy wetter too and I found cloth a real nightmare with him at that age. He can still flood a sposie in one wee now (he wears them at night still). Roo on the other hand just doesn’t flood them the same and wool worked really well with him. But I just can’t imagine wool having worked on Jake - he weed to long and hard abnd fast for anything to keep it in.

Have you checked your wraps are big enough? It can be one of the causes of leaking.

Thanks guys smile

I think the wraps are big enough as he is using the ones (not all of them) that Alice has recently come out of that span the guessed weight range but will be passing on the smaller ones soon anyway so won’t be tempted to use them and not look for a big one lol.

On with the mountain wink

Oliver was in ‘sposies yesterday. Not only were they not eco ones but they weren’t even the right size! I’d just run out of cloth and the only thing left in the house was some old ones left over from Molly.

Our best ‘bomb=proof’ wraps were Mother Ease Airflow. But there were still stages when Toby needed boosting - just a muslin square folded into the nappy made quite a bit of difference to the leakage.

But we also spent quite a while in disposables at several points due to various factors. Sometimes you just need a little break - you do so much more than the average person to help the environment, I’m sure you’re allowed a few eco sposies along the way wink

Motherease airflow with motherease one size nappies and the booster do the job here, never got on with tots bots as we seemed to leak through them as well.  Don’t stress about the disposables, DD wears them at night as she was getting too sore in cloth over night, I’m trying not to let the stress of the season add onto the stress of 2 LOs and taking quite a few short cuts to try and stay sane but itsa easier said than done

You deserve a break honey. I think there are times where we have to put our own sanity first so giving yourself what I used to call a ‘nappy holiday’ is perfectly ok. When Rose was 11 months old our lives suddenly became very stressful for one reason or another and I switched to disposables. I never did switch back because the stress factors stuck around for longer than I anticipated but I don’t feel guilty because I know that if I’d tried to go back to washables it would have just been one more thing dragging me down.

dont feel bad about the sposies!

when you are ready to give the cloth another go few things might help, check the wraps arent too large and wicking around the legs. Buy some bamboo/hemp boosters to go under the totsbots to increase the absorbency (Think its little lamb ones on ebay that are a good price for a pack of 12, microfibre cloths work well too). Fleece wraps might help because some of the moisture can escape but ive alwways found them less reliable.

With 2 parters we’ve always used motherease and nature babies wraps

For night times weve always needed something a lot more absorbent so use a minki huggles and as Nate grows we will start adding extra boosting (We had a leak last night so think we might be heading to that stage now).

Trying to think what else to suggest?

With you on the washing pile too! I swear mothers have magic washing baskets that refill themselves when you arent looking. I feel a sense of achievement at tackling the washing only to wake uo the next day and find it overflowing across the kitchen floor again!

Hope your gorgeous kiddies are well!

Motherease wraps here too - Finn was sooooo wet at night it was ridiculous! He only has one booster since he stopped feeding at night but from about 6 months old until 21 months when he stopped night feeds, I had to use two hemp boosters and one bamboo with a piece of fleece in a motherease onesize nappy every night - and he still soaked through it all but it didn’t leak at least! I found the disposables leaked too, but if they work for you, just enjoy the break! We’ve used sainsburys ones on holiday and found them good. I didn’t realise how different babies can be though - Evie’s nappies are almost dry in the morning (from 10pm ish the night before) and she wears a terry and only one booster!
