Hi everyone,
I’m putting this campaign in here because we are desperately trying to spread the word as far and wide as possible.

David Cameron has gone back on his word to give the UK 3000 more midwives and to cap that he is now slashing student midwife training places.

Midwifery in the UK is truly in jeopardy as over 50% of the UK’s midwives are due to retire in the next few years. Where will the next generation come from?

I know that many of you may have had Independent midwives, but this will affect them too. Midwives need to be trained and there will be no more independent midwives if not enough are trained.
If you don’t click for you, please click for your children’s benefits, they need to have the choice. If we don’t save midwifery in this country, there is all possiblity that it could go the way of the USA and that we are a technocratic society of obstetric births with homebirths becoming a thing of the past.
If you believe in women, believe in babies, believe in birth PLEASE show your support and stay up to date with this.

Hugh managed to get over 600,000 followers to save the fish.
The forest sell off was saved from 500,000 followers. PLEASE, it takes a second to show your support.

I just went to the Facebook page, but I’m not sure what to do next - is there a petition or something, because I couldn’t find it….

Angie, I think the idea is that the petition will be released as soon as there are enough supporters on the facebook page and twitter. I think the team behind the campaign don’t want it to fail, so they have to have 100,000 supporters. I guess the facebook page will update with new information all the time.
Thanks so much Angie, it’s so important.

If you go via my own website for now, I’ll speak to the CM and see where he’s at for the blog or website.

Thanks Jacqui!

PS: You’re just down the road from me I think and congrats on your new GD. x

Thank you! I’ve just ‘liked’ it on FB, and hope the number of likes climbs up from the 3000-odd it’s on now.

Am wanting to train as a midwife myself once the kids are both at school, so in about 3 years, this doesn’t sound promising especially as it’s quite competative anyway.  Will defo sign and spread the word!

Much love X

Don’t give up Gipsyrose. let’s hope this campaign really takes off and forces Mr. Cameron into reconsidering and promising those places. x
