could be the wraps as some ther posts have said. I find the velcro ones tend not to stay in place very well but poppered wraps by nature baby excellent.

I'd definitely suggest this is a problem with the covers you are using, although I am also sure your LO is a heavy wetter. The covers you mention are notouriously bad for heavy wetters. You can check their integrity by filling a glass of water, put the central part of the cover over the top, hold it tight, and turn it upside down. NO water should come through a decent cover.

Hi,

I am really pleased to say that after listening to everyone we have managed to continue to use the little lamb and either natures babies or motherease wrap with 3 booster pads!!  So he has an incredibly large nappy!!  Someone suggested that his vest or pj bottoms where causeing the problem and we have found this to be very true, he now goes to bed without any, not sure what we are going to do in the winter but will have to tackle that when it comes.

A great big thank you to everyone, I am just so pleased that we can use them and he is now dryer than he ever was when we had resorted to times of using disposables at night!!

Well done! In winter we use a pair of loose pyjama bottoms or a pair of woolly trousers (over our PUL wraps  :D) In summer little man goes in bed with just his nappy and a loose t shirt.
I don't think we ever used popper vests once we switched to cloth 3 babies ago.

Well done again

Learning mum do you still want patterns?  I have knitted 2 wool wraps for my DS, one like a pair of pants and one pair of shorties.  I knitted them both flat and then sewed them up and they were really easy (I am not a skilled knitter!)  If you want I'll send you some links for free web patterns I used.  You need to make sure you use pure wool yarn thoug, and will need to get hold of some lanolin to treat them with!  I love them but tend not to put him in them if hes sat for a long time, eg in the car as they do wick, or if I expect him to poo as you do have to hand wash them!

Hi Sparky,

It would be great if you don't mind sending me the link for the shortie pattern, i am really tempted to try them for the winter,  we are now fine at night because he does not wear and pj bottoms but his bedroom is very cold in the winter and will need something.

Thank you

I agree with the others that this can often be a wrap issue.  I use an assortment of nappies on my children at nights but generally use fleece wraps or wool longies/soakers and all are really good.  They work well as both fabrics are water resistent and high breathable as opposed to PUL which is water proof and keeps the wetness in rather than letting the moisture pass through the wrap.

DD2 is a very heavy wetter and is fine with fleece wraps - I don't tend to use wool on her purely because she can only wear organic wool and I haven't got round to making her a soaker yet!

When my daughter was little I used babino mio through a nappy delivery service.  At night I used to use a larger wrap with a booster and two nappies folded together.  They never leaked but my DD had a huge round bum.  When I had my sons many years ago I used to use terries, you could get special night time terries from mothercare or zorbit that were highly absorbant along with nylon pants a bit like cagoule material which were fantastic.  Shame you can't get these now they were fab.
