I have just about got to grips with the DH (my current fave) and also the SHBC. grin
I find the chest belt on the SHBC a bit diggy though.

I feel that once DD is asleep I need to give her a bit more head support, but struggling to do that with the DH or SHBC.

Would a BWCC be better. I’ve managed this a couple of times using a chest belt (less diggy than the SHBC chest belt) and it would be easier to re-tie passing over her head once dd goes off to sleep.

Sooo…What is your favourite back carry for a sleepy 6 month old?

Sorry - DH = Double hammock (chunei), SHBC = Secure High Back Carry), BWCC = Back Wrap Cross Carry.

My fav are high back carries, they can rest their head on my shoulder then and have a good look around when awake.
When DS was little my fav was reinforced Ruck tied tibetan
Also liked DH, but less so
Never got on with SHBC
and BWCC they always ended up being too low down my back at this age, great for when they’re older babes/toddlers though

JBC (Jordan back carry) is quite good too.

I haven’t tried the JBC yet!
Once your lo is asleep do you re-tie to have a pass over their head for a bit more support? I guess Im worried about dd tipping her head back.

I use BWCC when my little one is sleepy so that when she falls asleep I can loosen the top pass and rewrap it over her head (not over her face). It means she has head support, stops the lolling smile

Mostly no, I usually carry them so high their head is resting on my shoulder. If their head starts to tip back, then I lean forwards or whatever a bit to get their head back on my shoulder.

Slingguide has some links to instructional vids of some of the carries. Also naturalmamas and thebabywearer wrap forums have some great links, they also do a COTW (carry of the week), where basically they list a carry, post some instructions and invite everyone to post any others, tips/advice/questions, photo’s etc-it’s a great way to learn a new carry.
