Today at the library, I picked up a leaflet titled “Real Nappy Campaign” run by the county council.  Apparently for every £50 I spend on cloth nappies, they will give me £30 cash back!!  This sounds too good to be true, but I have sent off for the details nonetheless.  Just wondering if anyone else has come across this scheme in their area and can tell me more about it.  Can I, for example, still choose the brand of cloth nappies that I’d like to buy, or am I restricted to a selection from a list?  And, is there a limit to this offer, for example, if I was to pay £100 on cloth nappies, would I get £60 cashback?  I gave a lot of my small sized nappies away when I thought Minnie would be my last, so I could do with a few more, but I would like to get Little Lamb bamboo nappies as I love the way they work when Minnie has used them.  smile

I got mine from LCC, you’d be that right, with M. Brilliant isn’t it?! You can choose any. When we did it 3 years ago it specified only one £30 we bought some then had to send the receipt to prove it was over £50 and they sent a cheque smile
I’d forgotten about that actually, might look into it again x

Hi, yes, it is LCC.  Wow, so it really IS as good as that!  smile  That will be a big help as I’m finding even the second hand nappies on ebay pretty expensive!  Exciting!!

Hope you are keeping well in your pregnancy by the way! xxx

I got a set from usednappies.com first time round, and although they were second hand the website do a receipt issuing system so that you can claim the council incentive. Not sure about just buying from a mate or something, but I bet most of the big second hand websites would have something similar in place. Our council incentive was £40 if you spent over £60, but I think it’s gone down. You only got it once for each child, and had to send your MatB1 form in to prove you were pregnant (think you got double for twins).

We used to have it in Norfolk, £30, you didn’t have to spend £50 to get it and got one per child, so paid for all my nappies! Sadly it was cancelled this March.  downer

Our area is rubbish, as we don’t have a scheme like that, though I’ve heard of them in other counties. Sometimes they insist that you use certain retailers, but I don’t think it matters which nappies you buy.

Lancashire had a scheme where they gave you a £75 voucher to spend with a retailer from a long list they gave to you. Unfortunately they ended it early this year :(
Was a great deal though.

Wow! That sounds brilliant! Matador we shouldn’t have moved to Wales before we had our baby!

Our council does the same scheme. Spend £50 and get £30 back, which is fab! But its only on nappies and not accessories, does that mean like nappi nipas, wraps, buckets etc?

Just to update this thread. Many councils still have schemes. Some have gone, some have changed and some new ones have started. I think with all of them you will only get the offer once now.

An article recently published in the Daily Mail, slated councils for “Wasting” council tax payers money, but they failed to take into account the costs to the council of people who use disposable nappies 0 each baby’s nappies cost their local coucil about £100 to dispose of, so the nappy incentive schemes are actually not only self funding, but they actually SAVR+E councils money!

I have a fairly up to date list of councils which currently have schemes, and what they are offering (each council is different) . If you would like a link to it, please PM me wink
