I think I would like to try some terry squares or similar as I am thinking that they will be less bulky than our tots bots bambinos (DS2 is in between size 1 and size 2 and size 2 is huge on him) and hopefully allow a bit more movement. When on his side DS2’s upper leg sticks straight out above the ground and he is really quite restricted.

What do you think? Is this a logical line of thought? Are terry squares the answer or is there something better I should try?

Does anyone have some that they would be happy to sell for me to try?

Thanks! L x

I used terries in emergencies with Grace, and always found them to be *more* bulky than my shaped nappies (bambinex, which are, admittedly, the thong of cloth nappies and little lambs), but that may just have been my inexperience with folding then! I wouldn’t worry about restricted movement though - I had loads of people tell me that Grace would never be able to crawl or walk with “bulky” cloth nappies on, and she was the first of our postnatal group to do both! I reckon the whole “slim fitting” thing is a marketing tool by the disposables companies to try and make people buy a different, more expensive nappy. I know I was in bulky terry squares, as were most of my generation, and we all figured out walking just fine!

If you get bamboo squares rather than cotton, I think they are less bulky than a lot of shaped nappies. They are certainly the easiest to wash and quickest to dry option, and not only that, they are economical and very efficient. a 60 cm square will fit from birth to potty, and by using 2 folded together, they also make an excellent night nappy, especially f you combine it with a wool nappy cover. Folding and putting them on is not difficult, once you’ve done a few either. If you want to try one out, PM me. I organise trials anyway;).
