Has anyone used the terry square kit from mothercare?
http://www.mothercare.com/gp/product/B000IVQYP6/ref=pd_accessories/202-1522496-2930224?ie=UTF8&mcb=core
We're looking into nappy options as our lifestyle has change now there'll be a 2nd one, plus we've given away most of DD nappies as theres a 4 1/2 age gap.

DD potty 'trained' at 3, so have passed on most of them. Got some motherease off a friend through local lets scheme (her kids are younger than DD, but have just come out of nappies, so she passe don like we had but have to admit they look long winded and a bit, erm.. faffy… especially being we're out a lot and theres all the poppering and making sure they're set up to go in change bag. Thought terrys would be fuss free and easier when on the go as much as we are.

Looking for someone who's tried these before and can offer a review, or anyone who's used terries and can sing their praises as a fuss free nappy. Or otherwise.

We had Kushies 1st time round, but won't be going back there again - all in one style we had leaked a lot, especially at night.

I have used flat terries (not the partcular ones you mention), they are easy to use and wash and dry etc once you have the hang of folding them. I have heard that little ewe terry squares are a very high quality square. If you are considering bamboo squares I would say don't, stick with cotton terry as the bamboo squares can shrink, and not always square if you see.
If you were considering a nappy which combined the benefits of a flat terry with the benefits of a fitted nappy then I would say give our quick flip nappies a go. They fold flat to wash, dry and store, but flip together quickly (no complicated folds) to form a fitted nappy ready to go straight onto your baby.
Just my thoughts, and good luck whatever you decide to try! Cloth is so easy, as you know, and I think you'll find 2 part systems so much easier and more reliable than all in ones like the kushies you had before. We've used / use 2 parters on the three of our 5 who were cloth bottomed babies.

Thanks for the help!
I can see that terries are prob our best option, as I feel they have an ease-of-use which appeals.

We used terry squares with Mia as we couldn't afford anythign else really!  But, found them really good.  We used little ewe and green baby organic unbleached squares and both were great.  Green babay were the best as little ewe have curved edges and are not quite as easy to fold etc.

we did buy one packet of mothercare terry sqaures and they were awful  :( As soon as they had been washed they went out of shape and were impossible to fold with the edges meeting properly iyswim.  We ended up using them as general mopping up cloths.  They are nowhere near as absorbent either…

Hi there
I used little ewes too when dd was v little but didn't find them fuss free at all - because you have to use nappy nippas which I never got on with (let me know if you want some!) and also coz the poo goes onto lots of different bits of the nappy coz of the folding.  For fuss free I love my pocket nappies - nature babies stuffables stuffed with whatever you like (eg mothercare terries if you like) - no leaks, good fit, liners and wraps all sorted and really quick to put on.  Sorry not to be recommending terries but thought you might want other views too..?

Other views are good - the world would be a very boring place if etc,etc - and I might take you up on the offer of 'nappy nippas'...

Not used those particular ones but have used terry squares along with most other brands of nappy!
Little Ewe were lovely, good quality and nicely finished.
Boots ~ bought an emergency pack a few months ago when we hadn't caught up with the washing and they were fab, still thick and fluffy and hold their shape.
Squares are the most economical and dry the quickest. Just got to figure out the right fold for the age/pee direction of the baby  ;D
Motherease are good and once you've sussed your poppa set up then they are really easy. I've found their wraps are very good as well over all brands of nappies. My ME are still huge on my slim build 2 1/2 year old!

If you can afford a bit more than terry squares  the best fuss free and quickish to dry I'd recommend tots bots, they also do an organic version. Pull tabs over nappy nippa on  (aplix sticks to stuff in the wash but if you want to eliminate another step then aplix is an option! ) and you are off!

Clwt Twt do a nappy similar in style to tots bots but cheaper, still good quality and they are made in Wales by a WAHM.

Nappy Nation are a good shaped/fold out quick to dry option.

Fabric wise some bamboo brands I've tried lose their pile/loops and the nappy nippa doesn't stick in very well.
Bamboo takes longer to dry as well.

Any more nappy questions ask away I could ramble on about them forever lol

The one thing I wouldn't reccomend is 'Kushies' - tried them 1st time with DD, and although we persivered and it got better when poos were more solid, she'd still leak through lots. She's also a very slim build though, and has got me thinking that adjusting the square to right fit is better than relying on an 'average' mesurement used for making all in ones, or poppers etc.

I use terry square with DD (she's now 19months). when she was little i used the specific folds for little ones and as she's grown I now fold the squares into a pad shape and just put into a wrap with a liner on top and it works great. I've got a mix of terrys and bamboo. I use the bamboo for night as they seem more absorbent and they feel softer which is nice as she's wearing them for about 10hrs. Although they have changed shape from washing them but as I fold them as a pad now it doesn't make much difference but it was a bit tricky when doing nappy folds.
Also forgot to say the terry squares we use have been passed down through 3 children so far and still going strong smile

They've been bought now, from mothercare, by my mum (both our local mothercares are currently shut for refurb! Helpfull.) as a new baby gift (I'm so thankfull at least one nanny is a millitant greenie too.. but thats a whole other post!) theyv were by far the best value, and I thought - as you get all the 'extra bits' like pins, wash bucket, soak and nappy liners - too even if the squares are shite, then we freecycle them, and we end up woth all the 'paraphinalia' and just aqquire new terries. It works out that all the 'stuff' is free if you add up the cost of nappies from mothercare when bought sepratly, so a good deal.. and finger crossed the squares themselves will be up to scratch!

Hi Earthmummie,

I had both Little Ewe terry squares and my mum bought me a bundle of Mothercare terry squares as well. I must admit, I got on better with the Mothercare ones than the Little Ewes, because they were thinner, they were easier to fold and less bulky. I mostly used the Little Ewes as a cover for the changing mat to make it feel warmer!

Love,
Jan

PS. I loved Nippas, they worked for me anyway. xx
