Hi there,
I am happily using cloth nappies (bumgenius) and perplexed as why everyone doesn't use them.
But as our little girl is teething with a vengence and weeing loads, I have having trouble drying nappies in time to use them again - I have twenty and would prefer to wash every other day as I am also kept busy caring for my husband as well as our little girl.  So I have enough things to do.
So, how many do you/did you find useful and what types do you recommend?
Thanks for your help, sarie

I have about 10 Sandy's and 12 Motherease OneSize for one 14mth old. He uses about 5-6 a day so I wash every 3 days and dry on the washing line or on racks inside and finish off in the airing cupboard. Drying on the radiator in the evenings in winter suits us well as they are dry by morning.
20 sounds like loads! I do not know your type of nappy, though. Mine are all shaped ones and dry pretty quickly (Sandy's are thicker and take the longest).
I would like a couple more nappies though as I am starting to use them at night too, I am searching for secondhand ones!

Bumgenius are pocket nappies and last till potty training, unless she gets really big or tall.  I use them day and night and sometimes I have to change dd every hour to hour and half and sometimes once in the night, so I can easily get through 11 and usually more in a day.  Glad I don't pay for each one like disposables!
I do put extra layer of absorbancy at night and although her bum is huge, extra padding for sleeping, they have not leaked.  But obviously the wetness stays near the skin and I like to change her regularly so she never gets nappy rash, and she hasn't yet.

how about filling them with some micro fiber a little more abosrbany than cotton and may be able to last a littel longer between changes. or perhaps a fleese lininging to keep some of the wetness away from  her skin.

Hi- unless your baby is a really heavy wetter do you have to change her so often? we have various pocket nappies, green baby, motherese etc (about 25 in total but 10 are kept at nursery for the days he stays there),  but we only use 2 or 3 a day,  I always use a fleese liner and use washable wipes (and he has only had nappy rash when teething and ill simultaniously, I did the same for DD and she never had nappyrash)

HI Sarie - we have about 25 nappies and wash either every other day or every 3rd day depending on how things go. About 20 plus bags, wipes and covers seems to be a full wash load for our machine and then the extra 5 are for dd to wear while the others are drying. Weather is rubbish for drying, at least round here at the moment. Can't remember how many times I put it out and than had to race back in with it yesterday! We tend to change dd every 2-3 hrs as like you I don't really like her to sit in it for too long, except at night of course.

Hello!

We also have bum genius and they're great!

We have 10 of them and 12 terry squares with motherease wraps, our little one is 4 months and uses about 6 ish a day and a few terry's depending on poos! We tend to use the terry's at home as they only last a couple of hours until soaked, but the Bum genius usually hang on a bit longer.

We add a fleece liner and that seems to work a treat keeping moisture away from his bot, before that we used the disposable liners and they just made him sore! So now have rolls and rolls of them left over!!

Also have just got an amber teething necklace and that seems to be keeping him nice and calm.. not sure if he's actually teething tho!

;D

Thankyou for your replies - Maysmum, I was thinking of about 5 more so I might try to get some on usednappies website.
I always use fleece liners and washable wipes, I have seen how bad nappy rash can get when friends little ones are teething so like to change frequently. Also I would not like to sit in my own mess and don't expect anyone in my house to.
She is a heavy wetter and when she is having some nappy free time it is like a waterfall! Always plenty of towels about.
Ronnie - after reading about them on here I bought an amber teething necklace, even though when dd started teething everyone said she was to young (3 months) and now at almost 4 months I can see her first tooth. We can definately tell if we forget to put the necklace on. So I think it works.
