Eh.. 9.9?  Have things changed then?  When i was pregnant with Rye (lol 5 yrs ago)  I remember my iron levels were 9 and I was told that was fine, but they would prefer for them not to drop any further.
Honestly baby will be fine, and so will you.  And like Sarah says, there is not link between low iron levels and post birth bleeding - it’s a myth.

If the tabs are making you sick, don’t take them, but if you feel better taking something then Foloradix is very good, and if you have the blackstrap molasses, then I would suggest making ginger bread and using the molasses rather than black treacle.

Make up a bbq sauce and add a tsp or so of blackstrap molasses, it tastes lovely and you can add to green veggies (you’re veggie aren’t you?) so boosting the veggies you are eating.  And do remember to drink fresh orange juice. (preferably freshly squeezed) too.

I’m using ferrous fumerate from a friend rather than ferrous sulphate - apparently they are easier to stomach. If you still have problems, she is now on ferrous glucosate (or something like that) which is supposed to be the gentlest of all the iron tablets. Might be worth asking for them instead if you can’t tolerate with the sulphate or fumate and natural supplements aren’t working for you. I’m taking the recommended two a day plus three sachets of Spatone, and still feeling very weak, tired and washed out - but I *did* have a big postnatal bleed.
