Back in July of last year I began a thread about celebrating menarche. http://www.thegreenparent.co.uk/forums/viewthread/12391/P0/

I mentioned that I would love to have a group of girlfriends to welcome my DD into womanhood, but have no ‘real life’ friends who would understand - they’re all from the ‘it’s a curse’ camp.

On the thread, the lovely Gill (Emilys Mum) suggested that YOU be my girlfriends and although you wouldn’t be able to be physically present you could send something for DD - a bead for a necklace/ bracelet, fabric san pro, a poem/ story- or even messages from any of your daughters going through this too…

So I’m asking who would like to join in? Who would be willing to send me something I can stow away in a box until my daughter’s moment of womanhood is upon us?

This would mean so much to me and my DD

Hi Starchild - I have pm’d you. Think this is a wonderful idea, have had my thinking cap on and had thought about a small moonstone crystal and am going to try and make a menarche journal, but wanted to check before I do that this is something suitable? It might take me a while to make the journal. I’m thinking of using reclaimed papers, using images such as butterflies, quotes or meaningful script etc etc. Please let me know before I start crafting! x x

veganmummy I think that sounds absolutely beautifull. My daughter looks longingly at my moonstone pendant, she loves journalling and butterflies are one of her totem animals; so your idea is Divine Inspiration - thank you so much!
