Just as well the GP forum gave me the inspiration to give up ironing - I can use the time I'm not doing that to do this  wink

Queenie - unfortunately I've found the time has come from that in which I was sewing - no doubt I'll get quicker as I get used to doing it!

Lovely blog Abigail. I think Maia makes a fantastic Slinky Malinky!  I will have to try to find the time to create one.

I love reading all your blogs and would love to do my own but am wondering about whether I want anybody and everybody knowing what I get up to on a day to day basis with my son.  I've not got anything to hide but I wondered if there are any safety issues (eg I remember reading one blog where the mum doesn't put pics of her childrens faces, but didn't really understand why not) or things you make sure you don't talk about when you do yours, eg do you mention anything about where you live etc?  I know I'm probably just thinking too much about it but curious really as to what others think/do?

I don't put any place names on mine or pictures of the children (unless they're just blurry in the background of something) and I don;t even mention the children's first names either. My full name is on it but the children have my husband's surname anyway so they shouldn't be identifiable by that. Basically I don;t put any details on there which would allow a stranger to identify the children or where we live.

There are things I don't talk about, most often any negativity about DH or anything else that I wouldn't share with a stranger.  I have no problem with people knowing our home town, I don't feel it's any more likely that anyone would target my family through having seen photographs of them playing on the park than if they saw them skipping through town with no previous exposure.  *shrug*  I have actually got talking to another mum at a group once and only realised much later that we already knew each other from online, so I would doubt that it would be easy to track me down deliberately.

I don't give contact details, people can only contact me from there via an email form on my site.  I don't post any pictures of my children where they aren't fully clothed - I wouldn't even post a picture of Morgan in just a nappy any more (when she was a tiny baby, sure).  My personal boundaries, is all.

Oh and I would never post a picture that contained another child (ie not one of mine) without asking their parents' permission first and making sure they knew the blog was public - and asking whether they would prefer I refrain from mention of the child's name.

Hmm wondering if this came up as i have a nekd little person on my blog.  :-[

This kind of stuff never really occured to me. I mean, i have thought about it vaguely in the past, probably when i first started blogging, but not recently, and tbh i haven't really thought about what i'm posting.

Although my blog is public, up until recently it has mainly been read by family so my top considerations have been led by that, for example what would i not mind my grandad reading. So i haven't mentioned that we are considering HE because i haven't mentioned it to him and we are a close family. Thats why i have the other blog, for discussing things in more depth if i want to. You can easily link between the two but i doubt most of my family would - they're all about the Phoebe pics!

I don't have our last names on the blog, and as its a blog about Phoebe it of course has her name and  pics. I don't really feel this is an issue for us. I can however see that this part really depends on your circumstances. I know a few people who have to be anonymous on the net due to ex boyfriends, family members etc. Even one person who is on facebook but goes by a different name and no profile picture.

As a result of this thread i have thought a bit more about it and have removed the naked photo (it was just a backshot of her feeding her dollies with just her socks on that i thought would make a few family members smile - but really there's plenty of other pics so its probably safer to remove it) and changed our details so it just says the county and not the town.  I do feel a bit silly and naieve now, but it just honestly never really occured to me.  :-[

There probably isn't any danger. As Arwen said, the probabilities of anyone targeting you through randlonly coming across your blog online are pretty low. Why don;t you make your mainly piccies blog friends only, then you can post what you like without worrying on that one?
I've always been pretty carfeul, partly due to a hostile ex-husband out there in cyberpsace somewhere and feeling uncomfortable that he could see my children, and partly because someone I know did once get targeted by a stalker who hacked into his hotmail and his band website and all kinds of things and it was a bit scary. Mind you, he did deliberately cultivate 'friendships' with odd women from all over the world so he was probably putting himself out there more than most of us would! I think there's being careful and then there's being a bit paranoid.

NaturalMummy I didn't post because of you, haven't even seen the naked person, and certainly wouldn't have a problem at all, I only mentioned it because my Mum has got this huge paranioa about Facebook, and then when I was reading another blog (no greenparent persons!) they mentioned that they don't do shots of their children and I wondered why as if I decide to blog I would obviously be putting pictures of DS in it.  Didn't mean to get anyone worried, just wanted to understand whether people see it as an issue themselves
