Right then…when ds was born desperately wanted to use reusables…but it never happened. 2 1/2 years down the line and we’re still using disposables :-0. BUT. DS is only just coming round to the idea of potty training, so I’m guessing we may still have a while of needing nappies, esp at night.

So my question is…would it be worth me getting some reusables now?

We are hoping for more, so they would be reused by our next babe. Our budget is fairly limited right now though, so can’t spend a fortune on them, but I’m guessing it wouldn’t be any more than the price of disposables (prob £20 a month?). Or am i really wrong there?! Also, don’t want to spend a fortune in case another babe just doesn’t happen.

Any recommendations and what I would need greatly received - I’ve read lots of previous posts but as DS is nearly out of them I’m wondering if my needs are the same as those with newborns.

Thank you!

Sent you a pm…you will be safe as far as budget goes so long as you don’t become a cloth nappy addict and ‘have’ to buy pretty designs and custom nappies. Then it becomes rather expensive *knows*

Hi we always used both cloth nappies and disposables and when my daughter was able to she point blank refused to wear cloth nappies any more! This was around 18 months so we have been using disposables ever since.  Just something to think about if your son is used to disposables he might not take to them x

Just to show how different they all are, Ds3 went into disposables as we approached potty training, it worked a treat!

And in case you are interested I have some nappies available in larger sizes (ie toddler) if you fancy some to try, as long as you cover costs, I’d be happy for them to be used again.

I used some washables on ds1 from just before he was 2; mainly just when we were staying in. He potty trained quickly and easily before he was 2.5 and I think the real nappies helped. You could certainly just get a few to try.
