In the recipe book i got with my breadmaker, there was a recipe for raisin bread (they called it spiced fruit loaf). It’s lovely bread, but only uses white bread flour. I was wondering, does anyone have a recipe which uses wholemeal flour or a mix of the two? I think that if I just swapped, I would need to bake on another setting, as the type of flour seems to dictate the setting. I don’t want to waste a pan full of ingredients! Any thoughts?

Thanks!

I find if I mix a quarter wholemeal and three quarters white I don’t need to change the setting. Have done up to half and half at a push and it seems to work OK. I use organic flour if that makes any difference.

You may need to add a little water though as the wholemeal is more thirsty.

Thanks Cariademma,

I’m going to try that. How much more water would you say you used?

For 250grms flour (to make rolls so not as sticky as a loaf) I use 150mls water.

For 400grms flour ( the small loaf setting on my machine) I use 300mls water.

I just experimented with something between the amount suggested for all white and the amount suggested with wholemeal.

Hope that helps!

Emma
