Hello everyone! I continually find myself reading the forums, or being directed to this site for advice on babywearing, breastfeeding, co-sleeping, vegetarianism/veganism, chemical-free living….the list goes on - basically most topics discussed here fascinate me, and everybody seems so friendly and open-minded - so I decided I’d finally stop merely snooping and actually join in! So hello!
I have a little boy Z who is half a year old. Before he was born I was given the typical baby-training books as presents, and didn’t realise quite how opposed I’d be to them until my baby arrived, vulnerable, bawling and so dependent on me! After a few days, I thought to hell with those books, they are making me feel like my instincts and choices are all wrong, and yet how can they be. They found their way to a charity shop and I found the continuum concept and Dr Sears’ attachment parenting book, and thought ‘yes, this is me! This is how I am parenting!’ I find you can face some opposition from people like health visitors who are more ‘traditional’ but I have the confidence that the way we are parenting is the right way now.
Just hoping to be able to have an input in discussion and also glean some advice from other people with things in common!
