We started a unit study and I’m stuck! the things I thought they’d like they didn’t and the things I thought they would get bored of they love, but I’ve lost momentum now that they’re really loving the project (typical eh?)
so far:
drew round dd and cut out paper organs, talked about them and stuck them on (ds wrote descriptions too! basically because lots of them involve poo….)
added french labels to the body for outside things like fingers and toes and worked out ‘head shoulder knees and toes’ in french
took a photo of their favourite body parts and they thought of rhyming words and wrote a poem, then decorated the edges with a collage of their favourite things
talked about red, green and yellow light foods and how they effect us
did a fruit rainbow and made a recipe each day using a ‘colour’
making calendula tincture as we use it loads for making us better!
self portrait (we do this each jan)
looking through photos and their memory boxes
planning/ hoping to do:
senses experiments
family tree
something on bones (not sure what!!)
something to do with our local area (no idea as I’m rubbish at geog!)
something a bit more spiritual and ‘in touch’ with themselves, particulalry the good that they have in them (I’m planning on thinking about helping others so we can move onto ‘little red hen’ as my dd loves it)
can you tell I’ve lost my way?!! We only do an hour set lesson each day, the rest is learning as they go, so we have books out on this subject, but I feel like I want to complete it (they do too)
Any idea lovely mummies? xxxx
