Help! I’m going crazy!

I had a really dreadful ear and throat infection over a week ago - so bad I had to resort to anti-biotics as nothing would touch it and the pain was so bad downer

The pain has gone, but I am now totally deaf in one ear and partially deaf in the other.

I am taking Plantago drops morning and evening, and every time I swallow I’m hoping that I will get the ‘pop’ that indicates the all clear - but still nothing!

It’s making me worn out and very irritable - and I keep walking into things!

Any suggestions? gulp

Oh honey, how awful, ear infections are soo painful! What you describe as expecting your ear to pop any minute, sounds to me like glue ear, where the space behind the ear drum is filled with gunk from the infection. I don’t know if there are any remedies for that, apart from grommets, but that’s a different league. I would ask a doctor or homoepathist for advice on what to do. In the meantime all sympathy from me, it’s incredibly annoying if you can’t hear properly.

Thank you for the sympathy!

It really is incredible how annoying it is! If it hasn’t cleared up by the weekend I’ll steel myself and go back to the doctor and have them check it out. oh oh

Poor you- what a drag.  Those really hurt, and to be suffering hearing loss to, boot…..I’m so sorry!  I had a spate of ear infections last year, and finally went to the doctor- AFTER one of my eardrums ruptured.  Do yourself a favor and go back before that happens to you.  I did get my hearing back, but the pain was shocking and oh, it’s really gross when your ear drains.

And, to make matters worse, up until about 12 hours before the rupture, I had no pain and no idea that there was an infection, just a bit of sloshing that I ignored.

Personally, I wouldn’t wait to go back to the Dr.  S/he can just have a look see and at least give you peace of mind, or maybe send you to an ENT to try to drain the ear, hopefully without grommets though.  But if there is a problem, then you might as well get started on treating it, especially since your hearing is suffering.

I hope it feels better soon.

Good luck!
