A slightly odd mix, I know, but I’d just like to recommend Marion Keyes new baking book. It’s called Saved by cake: over 80 ways to bake yourself happy ( http://www.amazon.co.uk/Saved-Cake-Marian-Keyes/dp/071815889X/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1331331481&sr=8-1 ).
I’ve never read any Marion Keyes before, but saw the book in my library and was intrigued by the ‘bake yourself happy’ strapline. I just thought it was a sweet idea. I took it out and started reading it - Marion Keyes gives the best description of depression I’ve ever read (I’ve had it a few times) and she then goes on to explain that she uses baking to give her a focus and something to help her feel some enjoyment when she is low. The recipes are too food coloured for me (easy to leave out), but her descriptions and discussions of each recipe were lovely - I read it cover to cover last night and baked her red velvet and cream cheese icing swirl cupcakes (but without the red colouring and in a gluten free version so I could eat them) today and they were really yummy and easy to make.
Hope others enjoy this
