It figures now that I have sold/gifted/loaned all 13 of my slings I would be pregnant again smile

I have always favoured ring slings.  I have had a multitude of wraps and liked them well enough now and again, but for quick easy use around the house and to soothe a baby quickly, ease of access and disentanglement ring slings have always won hands down for me.

BUT I do sort of like the look of the cabbo/close carrier.  I had one similar with my second son and the jersey fabric bounced a lot and then sagged terribly, so I always stuck to woven wraps after that.

Would the caboo be the same do you think?  Or would that band thing around the middle stop the bounce/sag situation.  Once past 10lbs (um by the second week!) my babies just seemed to heavy for the other jersey wrap…..

I’d love opinions on this particluar sling and comments etc from users,

thanks so much,

Claire

I used a close with my ds until he was about 18months and absolutely loved it - tried wraps, ring slings, ergo, wilkinet and mei tai and none of them compared for comfort or ease of use. When it got a bit saggy near the end I just washed it and it tightened up again. Its now being used by a friend for her very chunky baby and still has life in it! I never used the extra wrap as d when ds was small carried him in it hammock-style rather than upright and once he was bigger I didn’t find I needed it - but it would stop the sagging issue if it was a problem.

congrats!
i used a close with dd from a few weeks old around the house, and then for looooong walks every day when it became the only way she would sleep in the daytime.
she has never been very heavy but i found, no matter how tightly i did it up, the ‘cross’ would always ride up my back and make it really uncomfortable and drag on my shoulders.
not knowing any better i then used the baby bjorn we bought thinking it would be suitable for dh (prolapsed discs) and even went to my first sling meet in it, where they gently educated me, and i tried a home-made mei tai there which made dd seem as light as a feather and was so comfortable! however, i lost my heart to a beco gemini that day - naturally, soon after i bought one dd started walking and has wanted to walk everywhere since! =)

er, short answer, i found it too stretchy and painful after a few months, but lovely and snuggly….. in hindsight i would have loved to have learned to wrap, really envy all wrappers! you make it look so easy!

The Caboo/Close is made from the same stretchy/jersey like fabric as stretchy wraps, so yeah, it would stretch the same. Although most people need something more supportive as babies get bigger, it’s generally around 15-20lb, it could be a bit of tweaking or a different carry might have helped extend the use for you
I assume it was a Stretchy wrap you were using before? What carry/s were you doing? as the PWCC/hug hold have the same effect as using the Caboo with the horizontal band
