Started the cloth nappying last week, finally! Using bamboo terries at home, and have a few other kinds now, but waiting for them to reach full absorbency after a few more washes before using at night. what do you use at night and with how many boosters? I have a heavy wetter as he feeds throughout the night!
also, do you have fleece next to the skin always? I’ve just been using bamboo or cotton boosters so guess there’s not anything to wick the moisture away.

Watching with interest as my 4 mo feeds and therefore wees a lot in the night and I am yet to use a nappy that holds it all!! We woke up to a wet bed yet again this morning and dh is about ready to buy disposables as I can’t keep on top of washing bedding as well as everything else. In fact I just wash his clothes, sleeping bag and towel under him now and live with the wee sheet :(

Thanks for the replies so far. Hungrycaterpillar, what are you currently using at night? A 2-part system? I have some new bamboozle stretch nappies with a lot of boosters and as soon as I’ve used them more and so washed them a few more times, I will be trying at night. Supposed to be very good! Currently, even a disposable won’t last much more than 9 hours for my son, they really have to be done LAST thing at night and he is whipped out of bed the moment he wakes up!

We change Neddie from a cloth to a nature babycare nappy around 10 pm and even then he’s sometimes wet in the morning.  We have tried a load of different cloth nappies and none worked over night, he just pees too much.

I used cotton bottoms (not available now I don’t think) with my oldest with a microfibre booster when he started to sleep longer, I also used two nappies sometimes before I discovered the boosters!  My youngest had the cotton bottoms inner but usually with a motherease outer and did not need a booster ever.  My experience and talking to other mum’s is that boys are often wetter at night than girls, not sure why?

I used to find disposables were the worst at night for me.  We used to use them camping and both of mine had wet pjs by the morning which was a pain when you are camping.  I always boosted them with a washable wrap!

I use a Motherease birth to potty with its own insert and a muslin, with a fleece wrap. I think having a breathable wrap makes a big difference.

If you have bamboo terries already, they are absolutely the best thing for night - just double them up. So you fold 2 together, put it on as normal, and for best results use a wool cover, rather than a PUL cover. This is much better especially for night time, as it allows the nappy to dry in betwenn wettings, without wetting anything else. The bamboo terris have the added advantage that they will dry far more quickly than a shaped nappy.
If you want to try out a wool nappy cover before investing in one (‘cos seeing is believing!) PM me;)

We have tried motherease one size, tots bots bamboozle and cotton, mothercare, terries, poppolini and bambino and various outers, none hold his mammoth wees!! The mothercare doubled up are best but he has a ‘problem’ that his willie hangs to the side (he sleeps on his sleep facing me) and sometimes the wee just comes straight out :-O
What’s the best fold for terries for boys? They worked so well with dd,  but I just can’t get them to fit right with ds. He’s a chunky 4 mo grin

LittlePants-tell me more about wool covers!! I looked before but was baffled with it all. Lanolising?? Sizing?? I’m lost smile

Sorry Libran bit of a hijack xx

Not sure whether I’m allowed to post a link here, but if you go to my site, in the menu at the top of each page you’ll find a link called ‘About Wool Nappy Covers’ That explains a lot about wool.

If you want more personal info, PM me, ‘cos I don’t want to break any forum rules.

I’ve used slinki minki with both of mine and have found them great. Both of mine have been able to out wee disposables at night but the slinki minkis have been wonderful. You can stuff them with anything and they have so much room so they can be as big or small as you want. I’ve tried wool and fleece but never got on with them :(

I’m finding with Jude that our best nappy is a Totsbots Flexitot - it just seems to keep the moisture away from her better which is what I want at night. Otherwise, I have just started adding a booster to her normal nappy (bambinex) - but she is only 12 weeks old. With Grace I used a bamboo little lambs with two bamboo boosters and a fleece liner. Worked a treat.

Hi lovely mama. Hmm, I think, this is my first post giving advice on baby-related stuff, so I feel important, hehe…

Toby is just over a month old, and peeing constantly. To not have a wet bed, we invested in some waterproof sheets, which I cut smaller and use just under him; I actually use them as changing mats too. It’s great because it’s machine washable. Though we’re aiming to do Elimination Communication, and catch most poos, we cannot catch pees at the moment because they’re far too frequent. As a nappy, both day and night we use only muslins at the moment; daytime with a booster, and nighttime without, and changing him regularly throughout day and night, usually after a feed (we co-sleep and breastfeed on demand). I pre-fold some muslins beforehand, and have them ready by the bedside cabinet, so I don’t have to get up at all. We use lots of muslins through the day and night, but because they’re easy to wash and dry, it’s not a big deal. I do a wash load every morning.

Also, during daytime, when Toby is in the sling, I use some towel between him and the sling, and when we go out I use a wool cover, which we find very effective. I suggest, you try some wool covers during night. Hope that was useful, Bianca
