Hello hello
Haven’t posted for a while *waves to old and new*
I stopped washing my hair 3 months ago for a few reasons, but primarily wanting to break the cycle of shampooing, to help my hair cope better by itself. This has DEFINITELY worked, and there are lots of benefits to it, think I am sold.
The only thing is I use Henna to colour my hair and the Bicarbonate of Soda you use once a week to clean your hair when doing No Poo method strips all that beauty henna out. Booo. I am looking for an alternative natural cleaner to bicarb? That will not strip it?  Even the wonders of google can’t come up trumps for this dilemma.
Surely some of you mammas have this same predicament?! *hopeful face*

Here are some of the things I’ve used in the past with varying degrees of success:

soapwort
Pineapple juice (the best thing I tried! Used to buy cheap cartons from Lidls and just rinse it through)
Clay
Egg

The pineapple juice might strip the henna but I’m pretty confident the other three won’t

I have been using rhassoul mud - probably the same as clay and it’s lovely, I rinse with diluted cider vinager to keep it shiny as otherwise my hair felt very thick.
Good luck x

Im, tell me more! no shampoo? cleaning once a week with bicarb?? Did you just go cold turkey? My hair looks awful after one day, i tried a while back to reduce it to wash every two days, thinking it would accustom to it, and after a month I went back!

knew a woman a while back who didn’t wash her hair with anything, not even bicarb, and she had amazing hair. It was very short though.

Ok, I’m really slow….....how do you was with clay or egg? Or Bicarb?? do you rub it in and shower it off? doesn’t it make your hair sticky? I’m really interested as shampoos irritate my skin and give me dandruff, other than that my waist length hair is ok, but could do with being better. Would I need a few eggs? and could I use the water for the garden still?

Sorry for all the questions!
