What’s it like? How do you make it and is it comparable to normal porridge? Will I be able to get it past grace? Trying to find some breakfast alternatives for Passover which don’t contain barley, rye, oats, wheat or spelt. In fact, if antone can think of anything - I find that we do need carbs in the morning to get us through, and that can be a struggle.

I make it sometimes.  I know you can get Quinoa flakes which probably make a more porridge like porridge but I used the grains, added water, cooked for longer than normal and then added milk, honey and cinnamon.  I love it but Boo won’t touch it :(

Could you start by gradually introducing th grain? Say one sixth quinoa and five sixth oats, then gradually increasing quinoa ratio?

It does have quite a strong taste, I would say you would have to work up to it (ratio wise) and mask the flavour with some stewed fruit or whatever else is allowed.  My brother got a 5kg bag of quinoa flakes (to give him extra protein at breakfast) and I think it has been quite tough going!

I note you don’t exclude rice. Could you have a savoury rice &stock;dish for breakfast, like the Japanese do? Or even rice pudding? Or semolina pudding/porridge, that’s made from course cornflour (polenta), I don’t know if that is acceptable? Polenta fingers? Perhaps think outside the box and don’t look for things that look like normal breakfast, but other dishes you like made with the carbs that are acceptable?

Hope you find something you all like.
