Any really super good antiviral remedies for chest infections from a virus please? I know there’s one from onions and sugar but my brain is well and truly muddled!!

Have had laryngytis (sp?) since Friday and thyme inhalations and echinacea/ zinc/ vit c have worked wonders but yesterday and today I feel like my lungs are on fire and I have an ache on one side (under my boob, ahem) when I breathe (not great I know!). Coughing up lots of yucky thick phlegm too (yuk!). Just waiting for NHS direct to call me back as I’m feeling nearly the same as I did when I had pnuemonia :( and I’m now a bit paranoid!

Really don’t have the time to be ill as I’m the only wage earner right now *sigh* and I know if I end up at the doctors they’ll give me antibiotics or similar and I’ll feel just as bad from those! Sorry for the moan…..

Thanks so much - just a chest infection - what a relief! Have antibiotics, but I’ll see how I am tomorrow after a night of natural remedies!

thanks xxx

Garlic.  And Honey.  Honey is antibacterial and anti-microbial - take it in tea, on cereal, or just on a teaspoon.  Garlic is best raw ... garlic on toast tastes much better than it sounds:  butter toast lightly, cut a clove of garlic in half and rub it over the toast, yum!  And you can use raw crushed garlic in salad dressings cooking it reduces it’s healing properties.

Glad it’s just a chest infection.  Take good care ... drink plenty to help flush your system out.

Much love x

Some people are always grumbling because roses have thorns. I am
thankful that thorns have roses

Garlic honey. In a previous GP issue there was a recipe for it. It’s brilliant! Fill a jar with unpeeled garlic cloves. Cover with honey. Put on lid & leave for 2 days (that’s the only problem!). Take spoonfuls as necessary. It doesn’t come out very garlicky, but is very effective.

Hope you feel better soon.

That sounds good! Does it matter what sort of honey you use?

Don’t think so. I’ve done it with ordinary & with chestnut flower. The ordinary tasted more of garlic, because its original taste wasn’t so strong. They both work! I used the chestnut flower because they’re flowering at the moment & DD gets bad hayfever, so I thought it might help, which it does seem to.
