So, we were given an infant car seat - used about three times, never been in a crash - BUT, it is quite old and American, and the consensus of opinion seems to be that it doesn’t conform to modern British safety standards, so obviously we don’t want to actually use it for Jude. Any ideas of what we can use it for? It’s bulky, so I don’t really want it as a plaything, but if I take it to the tip it will either go in landfill or they will sell it on, and if it isn’t safe I don’t want that on my conscience.

I am drawing a blank - currently it will just go in the garage….

If you decide to take it to the tip make sure you cut the straps, take off the covers and write ‘Accident Damaged’ on it in big letters (I know it isn’t but it should stop someone desperate trying to use it)

How old is it? What brand?

Thank you, Sailor, I hadn’t thought of fire stations - have emailed our local one to see if they want it for demos or drills. Stripy-odd-socks, good advice - that ought to stop people using it!

I’d probably let the children play with it lol, if I put the handle right back on Talia’s to clean the covers (as I last did during pregnancy) the big ones want to climb in and use it as a chair.  Which I forbade on the grounds of potentially making it unsafe in an accident, but would allow with an old one that wasn’t to be used again!

It’s the space though - grace would love to play with it, but it’s huge!
