How are you getting on?

I have done nothing. But I have time and a very pretty list. I have made tonight’s dinner and done some last bits of washing though, which is progress!

I will be starting after a glass of water and hoovering. Yep, I’d rather Hoover than pack.

Well I am sat here looking-just looking- at the tent, air beds and pile of clothes, which are heaped on the living room floor…time for a cuppa I reckon!

We are packed!  Even down to having the store-cupboard foody stuff packed, batteries charged and in the torches, bunting stuffed in the side of the tent bag, and clothes laid out for tomorrow for every person in the family.

Two things are left to cause me anxiety.  That bloody car/managing on the train.  And more minor-ly, where on earth Jenna’s beach shoes got to for potential lake paddling.

I’m focussing on what I can fix: take knitting projects out of bag, put different selection back in, take those out and revert to previous options.  :D

Come on mamas, you can do it!  smile

I have half packed the rucksac with clothes, brought the box down that has miscellaneous stuff in, extra tent pegs, torches, batteries, etc.
Thrown towels etc down the stairs ready to go in the car… I suppose actually thinking about it, I ought to go and put the seats down in the car tho.. lol.. then I can start moving stuff in to the car.
Tent etc is already in the top box, although I have bought a smaller shelter to use as a porch..so I’ll bring that as well.. although if the weather is as predicted the bigger tarp will be better as it gives me a large area at the front of the tee pee and importantly no rain inside the teepee when I unzip the door!  :D

I have some twirly stuff to hang from the tent, but no bunting.  Keep meaning to make some. lol.

Right gotta go and do some more… would be easier if I weren’t minding too… damn schools.. broke up yesterday so I have minded child today, which I didn’t realise, thought I would be picking her up at 3pm as usual.. so that’s thrown me a bit, cos the kids of course are being little buggers, and constantly coming in telling tales, or asking for stuff.. grrr.  Go away!  lol.

Hmm, everyone seems to be so organised. Well, I’ve done the shopping yesterday, now doing some washing, and thinking what to pack… a bit nervous about that. Look forward to seeing you all tomorrow.

LOL at least it sounds like you’re both getting somewhere with the packing anyway!  We put most stuff together yesterday to work out what we could and couldn’t carry.  Ack.  The garage rang and said they can MEND the problem, but possibly not get the part until tomorrow night.  Which would leave us with paying to have the damn car towed, and then paying for train tickets instead.  But when we impressed upon them that we ARE going away, and the work won’t be done at all unless it can be done today or first thing tomorrow, they said they’d ring us back in a few minutes.  This is driving me nuts.  I can’t NOT think about it!

*off to get a cuppa, decide what to eat for lunch out of the most basic of basics we have left in the house, and think some more about which knitting project to cast on next*

Bianca, don’t worry if you forget something vital.  I’m sure someone will be able to lend you sufficient to cope - there are lots of us with equipment that can be shared around if necessary.  xxx

Clothes packed.  Towels folded… decided what to wear tomorrow lol.
Just about to do go and sort the car, I want to try and get everything packed, and then this evening I can tidy around, so come home to a tidy house!  And do some baking, if I do it now with kiddies around they will just pester to eat what I make! lol.  Make a lot of muffins for Rye to snack on, and if I get chance might make some cheese straws and hoping to making some lentil pasties.  Plus making up a large pesto pasta salad to bring with me.  It is the nice thing about the Icey Tek, it will keep the pasta salad fresh for days and days :D In fact I’ll need to be careful not to put it near frozen stuff.. cos it will freeze it!  I packed sliced cucumber etc last trip and when I got it out, it was frozen! lol.

Ooh must remember to make yoghurt tonight; Rye can have it for brekkie with fruit salad etc.

I wasn’t going to bother bringing my large stew pot for the bonfire… but if folks want to make a combine stew or something, I can bring it???

the longer legs haven’t arrived for my fire pit; courier lost them - grrrr.  So I can bring my brazier but it will burn a small patch as it’s not far enough off the ground…. is that ok.. or is anyone else bringing a fire pit that I could put the tripod over?

And it looks like we’re being loaned a teeny little car!  So all is fine with fitting stuff in.  I’m now trying to put all the packed bags in the same area of the house, which is fun, so that I’m not running around going, “which room is the swim bag in?!” tomorrow morning.  I think I finally decided on craft projects too lol, something big, something small, something for the car, and a bit of crochet just because it’s fun in between all the things I want to finish by the end of the month!  wink

I am being a focused crafter and just bringing one project.

Anyway, the children are packed now. Just me left (Chris does himself) and toothbrushes etc. I have run out of steam though so am having an hour off.

Packing done, making food and filling jars now!

Just need to pack everything in the car, of which we already have had a practise run!

I have to say, we’ve been writing lists and schedules for the past week, and it all seems to be coming together nicely! :D

So nicely in fact, that we’re off to a friend’s house for dinner and champagne to celebrate them moving into their new house!
