Just been to our village Jubilee celebrations where I was asked if our LO will be going to the village school.  I said that we are considering HE’ding, the response ‘Don’t all children who are HE’d dress like children from ‘Little House on the Prairie’ - this was voiced seriously…think I’ve heard it all now smile

I wish!  I quite like those clothes on little ones wink .  I’ve had people assume we must be extremely religious or politically conservative to be considering HE (there is a whole faction of right-wing royalist Catholics who HE in France), but I’ve not heard that one.

Lol, I had a moment like this last week. A woman stopped me to say she loved our sling and another woman (complete stranger) interrupted to say that yes, it was all very well, but ‘those African women just stick them on their backs for years and their eyes don’t develop because they can’t see…they can only see their mother’s back, you see, and that’s why Africans can’t drive’ !!!!! All completely serious. I didn’t know what to say, I just can’t imagine how she could have come up with such a bizarre and ignorant idea! It’s a funny place…

So will you be investing in some Ingalls family dresses? I think I’d have struggled to respond to that one, as well!

I am not sure my son would like to wear one of those dresses!  What a wonderful comment, can’t decide whether to laugh or cry.

That’s really funny, LOL!

I remember one of the strangest comments I heard regarding HE was that it “turns boys gay” lol.

I’ve also had some weird comments.  I’m not sure where people get these strange ideas from.  My youngest had a bad cold a few weeks ago and when I was talking to my neighbour she said how can he possibly catch a cold, he doesn’t go near other children.  I didn’t know what to say.  He’s with children everyday at the clubs he does and playing with his friends, he even plays with her grandson so I don’t know where she got that idea from.  Never mind, I suppose many people will never really understand what home ed’s about.
