MM - do you use the mandarin massage just when she’s crying, or at other times as a preventative and how many times a day can you use it? ...
That’s an interesting question. I guess it would make sense to introduce (and get used to) massaging whilst everyone is calm - of course you can do that just with carrier oil. I would err toward only using one drop of oil per day, you could even dilute one or two drops in a 10 ml bottle of carrier oil (shops which sell essential oils tend to also sell empty bottles) and use it as necessary. You really aren’t going to need 5ml to massage a newborns tummy - I can do a full body massage on an adult with 30ml.
Massage in itself will help - which is why direction is important, always clockwise.
I’d also second the walking method - when my first had colic DH would very bravely snuggle her tummy to tummy in the Wilkinet and just walk around the land until the screaming stopped. Sometimes there’s not much to do but just be there, as calmly as one can, that’s not the same as leaving a child to cry it out alone in a cot.
