It’s my husband’s 30th birthday in a couple of weeks and I want to surprise him with a little trip away! I’m hoping for a little inspiration from you ladies please!  Here’s my criteria… 1) I’d like to go on a plane but money is tight so it’s budget airlines and accomodation all the way baby! 2) We can only really go away for 2 nights three days and no more (bah!)... Er… That’s it for criteria! Ha! Sooooo any ideas?!?! Thank you in advance!

I somehow recently managed to end up signing up to receive emails from Groupon, a daily deals website and although I ignore most of the emails, I have noticed a few offering really good deals on city breaks.  Might be worth look?

Madrid - really beautiful city and great tapas bars, really civilised atmosphoere - people stroll through the streets til dawn, but no thugs like in this country

I love Madrid too, but I love Barcelona even more!  Also the Baltic capitals (particularly Tallinn) are supposed to be beautiful though maybe still chilly at this time of year.  Or Eastern Europe?  Krakow or Warsaw?  Or Rome, Florence, Taormina?
