I have a few white wraps now - enough to be getting along with - but I want a few funky ones for when (IF!!) the warmer weather kicks in and ds2 can be in just his nappy and a t-shirt.

I love the look of the fleece shorties but still not totally convinced they’ll work - especially with an 8wk old who isn’t mobile yet! Anyone got experience with fleece wraps/flongies etc?

So, where can I get wraps with PUL that look cook and funky but don’t cost the earth?  Any ideas?

I love these ones from wee notions - you can choose the fabric and I found them pretty good for containment (I love their nappies too - not that I can properly talk cloth nappies atm, as I still haven’t got the pixies out of sposies since moving 1 1/12 years ago! *hangs head in shame*)

I was given some large thin cotton pants which were designed to go over a nappy.  They came from gap, not sure if they still do them.  When I got them I thought they would never be worn but they were perfect for warmer days with a t- shirt.

Fleece wraps are fab - we only use PUL at night. They’re especially good if you don’t popper snything over them, so tshirt and nappy would be spot on!

Loads of places do them - have a look on etsy, but I think my MIL (link below) has some sale stock.

I know you said PUL, but I just wanted to throw in that I always use the Disana wool shorties and now they come in a range of fabulous colours!  I just bought a pair of purple in newborn size.  They are excellent at preventing leaks and so soft and move with the body well.

Wool is definitely better than fleece, and nicer than anything else. Fleece soakers can’t be lanolized, so are not as effective, and also will need washing after every wear, whereas wool rarely needs washing, because the lanolin cleans them. So you just hang them to air, and put them back on next nappy change.

If you want to try out a wool soaker, PM me wink

If you want pretty PUL wraps, the Nature Babies ones are excellent, and some nice prints, and they do both sized and one size ones. Good price as well.

Wool is wonderful & much better for the summer as it is breathable so baby won’t get too hot like they can in PUL plastic wraps.  If you do want PUL though, weenotions is fab.  Weehuggers are gorgeous too.

Umm, I’d take issue with the statement that wool is “definitely better than fleece”. Wool may be better than fleece for *some* babies/parents. However, fleece is hypoallergenic, never needs lanolising, dries incredibly quickly, and doesn’t actually need washing after every use - I tend to use one a day unless it gets soiled. I can’t compare the wicking of wool and fleece, as we are allergic to wool, but I’ve never had a problem with wicking fleece unless I’m using too tight poppered vests - in fact, wicking is the way I know it’s time to go up a size in vests! My understanding is that wool also wicks if the nappy under it gets sodden, or clothes press to tightly on the wrap, so that would be the same as fleece…. I wouldn’t leave a baby in a sodden nappy, so I’ve not experienced wicking for that reason. Fleece wraps are usually cheaper, which may be one reason why wool ones are pushed by nappy shops, but I really feel it’s worth trying both and drawing your own conclusions, rather than relying on others’ opinions. Do you have a nappy library or an independent nappy advisor (one that isn’t selling nappies) nearby? Might be worth checking your local council - many of them have independent people who might be able to let you see/try different types of wraps without the pressure to buy.
