Our kettle packed up, and have to get a new one, unfortunately. Would like to get an eco kettle, but aren’t they just green washing? Suggestions, please.

I would say the things that make it eco are energy consumption in use, how eco friendly production is and how good the quality is (how long it lasts).
If you can manage to only fill the amount of water you need then I think that is one of the most important things when you use it.

A quick check on Which Best Buys and Ethical Consumer shows that Morphy Richards Intelliboil 43870 comes up nearly on top on both rankings. I has three temperature settings (100, 95 and 85 degrees) so you can set it to heat up to your specified temp which obviously saves you energy if you choose the lower ones. Also great for green / white tea which should have around 85 degrees rather than boiling:-)

Hope that helps:-)

When our kettle died a few years ago we went for a hob top type kettle that we could also use on our wood burning stove and take camping.  It worked out to be the most energy efficient at the time.  There were no kettles of the type you are describing around then tho.

We have a hob/stove top one too but are waiting for our 14 year old Siemens kettle to give up the ghost!  I think the main thing is only boiling what you need to be honest, although some kettles will be more efficient than others in terms of transferring all the heat energy they are producing into the water rather than the kettle/air around.  We have the Morphy Richards eco slow cooker and have been impressed with their range.
