The best ones i found for dribbles were called “milk bibs”, made by Tommee Tippee. The thick band around the neck soaks up dribble (and spit-up) and stops clothes getting so wet.  This is what they look like: http://m.johnlewis.com/mt/www.johnlewis.com/Shopping/Product.aspx?Type=SKU&Id=230856280&s%pccid=pc%gs`00000 but you can buy them all over - I think ours came from Boots.

Angie! I’ve got some if those that I forgot all about!!! Feeling a bit dense now… I’m tempted to get some prettier ones but I should probably resist… Thanks everyone!

We got something called “dribblebuster”; got them from Green Baby. They got fleece backing. I understand they are easy to make yourself.

I’m too much of cheapskate to buy dribble bibs.  I got a metre of fleece in a colour I liked and cut it into bib shape with long bits for tying.  Or you can be more industrious and sew poppers on.  I really didn’t need a whole metre.  If I had sewed popper on, I probably could have bought 25cm and made 5 using the width of the fabric.  It worked really well.  I had to keep several with me, but the cost/effort factor made that worth it.
