I am trying to get my head together to entertain the two pixie during the summer, Saule plays brilliantly by himself but when Alice is around he suffers her need for constant things to entertain and be told what to do.
I thought maybe by having a different theme every week or two alongside a rhythm or routine would help both of them.

Would you please shed light, however briefly on your daily and weekly rhythm?
What sort of things do you include in circle time and how long do you find children will focus, I think I may very have to ‘announce’ if you like that I am going to do something and carry on and do it, whether that be a couple of yoga poses, a few songs, maybe signed or motion songs. And then see if they want to join in.

I know Alice loves art and would paint, draw and so on each day, Saule is still young and gets bored of these things easily, how often do you include art for littlies?

Alice is 4 and Saule is 2 smile
Thank you x

I start the day with circle, usually, and it lasts about five minutes since my littests don’t have the attention span for longer.  We also include a story time after circle where I get out puppets/floor toys/costumes, a different thing each day, and encourage them to tell the story by heart themselves.  (Simple traditional tales.  I usually tell the story myself the first day, ask for them to join in with floor scene the second day, then after that it’s anything goes!)  Each day is a different activity, but simple everyday stuff.

Monday, new story, library visit in the morning, usually something like colouring in the afternoon.
Tuesday, handwork in the morning (modelling, finger knitting, other craft type stuff if I have ideas).  Long walk in the afternoon.
Wednesday, colouring in the morning, swimming in the afternoon.  Sometimes Montessori activities if they want something to do later on.
Thursday, bread day.  They often each make a little roll for lunch.  They help chop veg for tea.  Sometimes I set up play kitchen-y stuff like playdoh or stuff for them to mix up, or both.
Friday, painting.  Sometimes we go out in the morning.  In the afternoon I try to get them to help tidy up for Sabbath, often unsuccessfully!

I used to do themes for the week, but tend more to go on projects now which last longer, as I have two school-age now.  Sometimes I think I’ve slipped too far out of a regular predictable rhythm, and we need to bring that back a bit.  Sometimes I get too hung up on what we “should” be doing because I *planned* it *waaah* and then I have to take myself off somewhere and give myself a talking to.  Right now I am trying to focus on drinking enough water, and getting outside every day, because we all need both to be nice to each other (haha).

Good luck finding what works for you!  smile

dr king enough and getting out every day are my current goals too !!
as for a Dailey thingy we eat breakfast together and talk about what we would like to do that day. then we try to achieve it !!!
with so many unpredictable kids I try to keep life as free as possible !! as it much depends on how every one has slept and the weather ! but I do try and make sure every one is eating well most of the week and drink enough water. and get out at some point of the day. our local community centre has a summer holiday club , check out your local community centre and or leisure centre for Dailey activites you can go to.
I would suggest for your lively one a physical activity in the morning followed by a more relaxing one like drawing colouring train track in the afternoon.
we have a magi sine here called the primary times which is great for ideas for what is going on locally

Thank you guys grin

Yes I am going to find out about summer stuff, the dance school and sure start centre have a few things.
I am going to check out the library as I have neglected to go recently and they have loads going on.

Alice thrives when given a subject she is interested in and I have been keeping an eye on groupon, today I bought entry to Ryton organic gardens (kids are free at this age).

I also want to gradually increase freetime and give Alice espcially less things to do!
