Can anyone recommend natural treatments for impetigo or should I see my homeopath?
Its for my DD age 7 and is only a few spots but has been going on over many weeks, possibly months so is not clearing up by itself. It is not bothering her.

Thanks

Sorry no natural suggestions but just to say it’s a b*gger to get rid of, this is the kind of thing doctors are for… It’ll be gone on a few days if you get the cream off them.

Hello, I had impetigo last year, and yes, one of the only things I’d ever used the GP for! And I *hate* using conventional medicine! It was gone in a week. I was worried about spreading it to LO’s and DH :( It didn’t though smile

Weirdly I was talking about this with some friends earlier in the week.  One of them used grapefruit seed extract on her daughter with great success.  You will probably find it at the health food shop.

My dd caught it at ten months, then gave it to her brothers.  It was terrible, and every time my dd would touch her face she would spread it to her hands and then everywhere, it was crazy.  I have a friend who lived in a community and she said at one point every kid and every adult had it, they all spent weeks trying every single remedy and treatment they could find in the end the went and got one little tube of cream from the GP (as I did too in the end) and within a couple of days everyone’s impetigo had gone1 Same with us.  It spreads terrribly and is just one of those horridly contagious things.  I’d be more worried about having the impetigo for so long and picking at the scabs and causing skin damage that way to be honest.  The GP cream is actually very quick, brief, leaves no scarring and you litterally use such a tiny bit for only a short amount of time.  I would never normally suggest going to the Gp for anything - except impetigo!!!!

I use a mix of Tea Tree and Oregano oil in a base of coconut oil and a dash of vitamin E oil(to promote healing, but not essential) .  This mix clears the Impetigo up very quickly!  Careful, the Tea Tree can sting a bit, but if diluted in a base oil it should be fine after a few seconds.  I just apply to the affected area 3 times a day with a cotton swab.
My 18 month old daughter came down with this recently after biting the inside of her mouth.  She’s still nursing so I ended up with it on my nipples as well.  tongue laugh Luckily, this mix cleared it right up for both of us.
