Does anyone have any sensible ideas for boosting Fin’s immune system? With his chemo we are expecting it to plummet (as it does) dramatically, and would like to give it a helping hand. Obviously we would discuss it with his consultant etc. I just can’t make my brain work to think of any thing sensible!

I can’t remember, are you still nursing your littlest? I had a friend whose older child had cancer, and the hospital were very supportive of her giving him expressed milk. If you’re not, you could try Human Milk 4 Human Babies. I’d be happy to express for you, but I have no idea how I would get it to you. Can look into it if it would be helpful though.

ETA: have had a quick look and there is a uk based refridgerated courier service. No idea of price, but if it’s something you need I’m more than happy to pump for you.

Manuka honey is supposedly very good for people undergoing chemo.  It is also meant to be good for applying to the inside of the mouth for ulcers that can sometimes be a side effect.

I also heard about colloidal silver but I’m not sure if it is suitable for very little ones?

I once read something about people dealing with cancer and a totally organic diet was thought to be helpful. You can get Manuka honey in Aldi for much cheaper than elsewhere.

Best wishes xx

I would also say diet and digestion are crucial in supporting immune function. If you can find a good, experienced cranial osteopath (not just a cranial therapist) this is something I would recommend to help with immune support (and general wellbeing and re-balancing the systems). They should also be able to help you with personalised digestive support. I can recommend an excellent one in Buckinghamshire if that is not too far away from you.

Also, there is a must-read book by Dr David Servan-Schreiber called ‘Anticancer’. It is easy to read and a great source of support, knowledge and empowerment in dealing with cancer. It lists a lot of food that actively helps the body fight cancer cells and supports the chemo process.
Cannot recommend it strongly enough.

All the best!

I would highly recommend juicing! Fantastic way to get everything into you easily and it tastes great! I have heard of quite a lot of people using it to support themselves through treatment for cancer. Lots of info out there but Jason Vale juicemaster might be a good place to start xx

When I was having chemotherapy and radiotherapy I took Flo essence daily. It was an amazing help, kept all my blood cells the way they should be so I could have the chemo each week, doctors kept telling me they couldn’t believe I had cancer! I highly recommend it. It’s a natural blend of herbs etc etc http://www.yourhealthfoodstore.co.uk/detoxify-liver-care/flora-flor-essence-cleansing-herbal-tea-blend

I second juicing, it’s a quick and easy way to get high levels of nutrients into your body.  Definitely worth a try if it’s possible.  Plus lots of organic fruits and veg.

Some herbal remedies are immune boosting too.  Echinacea is a good one but obviously check first with him being so young.

Hope this helps, you’re doing an amazing job! xx
