Don't know where to start really…..

I'm Rosa, short for Rosina, I'm 33 and mama to 5 lovely children, Rowan, 16, Iris, 13, Joe, 10, Bobby, 4 and Jaya, 18 months.  I live in the Shropshire hills, about 10 miles from Ludlow with my partner Rich, 28.  We're quite bohemian in the traditional, non-trendy context of the word I suppose.  Rich is a blacksmith and coppersmith, creating beautiful art from mixed metals, and I make my living any way I can, as long as it doesn't compromise my values.  Recently I've worked as a artist's model, muralist, designer/maker, milliner, corset maker, costume designer, set designer, masseuse, birth companion, gardener, and supplier of wholefood/vegan cakes to the village shop.  My kids are unschooled at home, and I don't think they'd have it any other way.

Our home is the most important place to me now.  It's a cornucopia of vintage and antique textiles and china, jars of paintbrushes, tubes of paint, skeins of wool and plants, baskets of fruit and vegetables and cats on the tables.  A mash-up of textures and colours and patterns, rarely immaculately clean and tidy, but always busy.  Friends come and go, some will come for a night and not leave for months, and our evenings always culminate in dinners round the table, mismatched china and candles.  Glasses of wine and laughter.

We share our lives and space with 6 chickens, 3 cats, fish, 3 mice and a Volkswagen bus.

I don't know what my 'green' credentials would be really.  We live in a way where to create has more worth than to buy, and a tight budget lends us naturally to frugality and a kind of self sufficiency.  I wouldn't say I have 'hobbies' as such.  I don't do things I don't enjoy, although occasionally enough peace and quiet to absorb into a book, or a quiet cup of tea and half an hour with my knitting with no disturbance would be good.  Thats an impossible dream though, I'm beginning to think!

And I guess thats a little glimpse into my world!

love skye xx

Sounds like organised chaos in a colourful world.

Treat the earth well: it was not given to you by your parents,
it was loaned to you by your children.

we borrow it from our Children.

Hi Skye, it made me smile when I read your post as my mum was called Rosina and I've never met anyone with that name before.  She was a colourful character and a wonderful host, must be something in the name  smile

You do sound like you have the sort of life I love, plus my dream vehicle.  I've got a couple of model VW Campervans but I would love to own one.  Unfortunately not likely to happen anytime soon though.

OOOOOOOH, that all sounds wonderful…I always wanted a childhood like that…my mum (who I love dearly) was a very modern ordered dralon and MFI modern type of mum, I on the other hand like threadbare rugs, sofa's kids can bounce on and my house is full of things I intend to fix…one day!
I was a costume designer too for 12 years…nothing too interesting tho (Jackanory, bit of TV drama, byker Grove)
You sound like a lovely mum.
