It's great to have finally joined the GP forum having been following your posts since the beginning and getting to know most of you in that time.  So it's about time that I intoduced myself too.  I live on the Dorset coast with my DH, my DS who's 15 today and my DD who'll be 8 on xmas day!

I've been home educating DS for 2 years now and it is going really well. He is doing a couple of long distance courses, piano lessons ( he has just passed his grade 1) plays basketball and the one I would recommend is The Duke of Edinburghs Awards. He is working towards his bronze at the moment and his confidence has grown dramatically. He was bullied at school which knocked a lot out of him. We are really proud of him.  DD is at school and is quite happy that way. She's a bundle of fun and never stops!

I help my DD with his decorating business and I sell my homemade cards at our local market. The home and children keep me busy the rest of the time. My aim is to simplify our lives and get back to basics. I am really looking forward to chatting with you all.

Hello and welcome from another coastal Dorset dweller! Well done to your son for passing his grade 1 piano, I'm a late starter and have just started taking lessons and hope to do my grade 1 in 2009.

Good for you Nutroast for learning the piano. It's never too late to learn an instrument as John Holt proved to everyone. I wish you all the best for your exam next year. My son was very nervous for his grade 1, but now he cannot wait to do his Grade 2. You will be fine. Its only 12 long minutes!

Hey and welcome,
I admire mums who home school, I couldn't do it apart from the fact that I'm too dim, I've got dyscalculia! My daughter has trouble with school, she's been out for months…just getting her back now part time. If this doesn't work the county may pay for http://www.accipio-learning.com/Congrats to your son, I can remember taking mine…it was nerve racking!
It never too late to learn an intrument, I'm 49 and Ive just started to learn the fiddle, mind you I'm rubbish HAHA
