DS is Oscar Abraham Zooey AND he has my surname (Crittenden) as a middle name AND then DP's surname lol!

Oscar - Means "Deer Lover" Oscar was a mythical Irish warrior who features the Celtic Ossianic poems.
We call him Oz. Or Ozbob, or Ozzy, or Ozzabelle…  ;D

Abraham - it's a family name on DPs side there is someone with the name in every generation, excepting DPs! My MIL was going to call DP
Abraham but didn't and he regrets it (he's called James, which is lovely but he feels it's too popular)
Zooey - Name of the character in the JD Salinger novel "Franny and Zooey" DP's quite the literary type and I just love Salinger (and the
           name)

Oh, what a lovely thread smile

Our DS is Jack Matevz. Jack was a name that was not on either of our lists (we made separate ones and compare), but once he was born he just looked like Jack smile And Matevz is an old slovenian name (I am from Slovenia), equivalent to Mathew or Mateus or similar.

Our DD is Ursa (or Urska) Freya. Ursa is also common in slovenia, but is of latin origin, meaning little bear. Freya, because we both like norse names smile Everyone pronounces Ursa wrong though. It is something like oo in moo, then hard R, SH and AH OORSHA.

Arwen Freya - Arwen is Welsh, meaning fair and Freya is a Norse goddess (she rides a chariot pulled by cats - the mind boggles, how much godly power must have been used just keeping all the cats going in the one direction and not sitting down to lick themselves, sleep or eat?  Or maybe the cats were very well trained, hmm  ;D)

Husband wasn't sure about Arwen, but when she was born I said, 'she looks like an Arwen' and he agreed.  I kinda wonder if he'd have agreed to anything I asked after supporting me through labour and before my retained placenta op!  It wasn't 'til after we got bub home and told our tai chi teacher that she was called Arwen that we found out she's the elf in Lord of the Rings played by Liv Tyler - we didn't know!

I've got a slightly unusual name and I've always liked that, also, I didn't want a name that had an aggressive or violent meaning (fairly common for boys names).

I have three boys Aaron William, Nathan Samuel and Jacob George.  They are all religious names but we are not religious people.  We just liked all the names (although Aaron was Aiden for the first few hours but he didn't look like an Aiden).  It was really difficult when we got to the third, cos there just aren't as many boys names as there are for girls.  Jacob was either going to be Jacob or Noah - we didn't decide until he was a couple of days old.  (George is my maiden name smile).  Definitely not hippy names wink

Daughter is called Darcy after Mr D'Arcy from my favorite book, and I adored Colin Firth as the character but didn't like the name Colin, especially for a girl. Our son is Edwin after my grandad, but we call him Ted for short.

I called my children Drustic and Rioch.

Drustic - the name is 5th century Pictish Princess and i guess she may be the only person to have that name since then. Unfortunately she changed her own name to one she prefered as a teenager…..... so parents beware!

Thankfully my son has no issues with his name Rioch - an Irish warrior.
Their Dad and i worked as archaeologists at the time and the thought of a mundane name just filled me with horror. They are both beautiful names and I think that everyone deserves their very own name.

My little girl is called Tallis Frances Elizabeth

Tallis is from a novel by Robert Holdstock, although I've since found out it's French and means Forest.
Frances is both mine and my Dad's middle name and was the name of one of my great grandfathers
Elizabeth is after my Nan who sadly didn't live long enough to meet my little girl

Victoria-Aida (only called that when she's naughty, and name is usually shortend to Vicky, or Vicky-Aida) is 3 1/2 and was called Victoria as that was what my mum would have called me, had my intiials had not then been VD  :o! Vicky has taken her Daddy's surname to prevent this happening to her.

The middle name is form a favourite great-aunt of mine, who passed away while I was preggers.

If Vicky'd been a boy she would have been Owen Clifford (Owen is his dads middle name and is a tradition that the boys in his family taken the 1st name of father as middle name. We liked Owen as it is related to the name of a celtic god.. and gets the pagan element 'in' for mummy.)

If we do end up bringing more babies into the world, we'll stick with the choice for a boy, and will go with Arwen (variation on Owen) for a girlie. I also like Delphie as a middle name for another girl, but I'm set on some sort of Owen variant if we have another lady as a 1st name.

I will, however make sure she *is* an Arwen before this goes on the birth certificte iykwim.

My lot are called:

Bethany Rose - we just liked it and thought it was quite original, except we've come across lots of Bethany Rose's in the past 14 years

Robert Craig - known as Robbie - my DH is called Craig Robert and as we liked the name Robbie (after Robbie the seal in Pingu, we were desperate for a boys name, lol) decided it would be funny to name him after his dad, sort of

Eleanor Lucie - she was almost Eleanor Rigby after the Beatles song but at the last minute I changed my mind and went for Lucie (after me) instead

Millennium April - no prizes for guessing when she was born!!!  Yes, April 2000

Naomi Sophie Rebecca - it took 6 weeks to decide on a name and we went for all three names in the running in the end, then decided we didnt like Naomi after all so she's been known as Sophie ever since

Jack Francis Stanley - named after DHs grandfathers and our old cat (dont ask!!)

Alfie Matthew - he was going to be called Matthew then we decided to carry on the cat name tradition and call him Alfie after my old cat.  That tradition has now come to an end as I can't imagine calling a child Whiskie or ginger fluff, lol
