Taking those first small steps to cement our visions and plans starts the ball rolling and we immediately feel more confident and excited. Sorting through unwanted stuff to make space for the new; getting in touch with old friends; dreaming your family adventures for the year; starting that project you keep putting off…there are lots of ways to make January full of zesty energy.

Here are 30 little steps that might help get your dreams for the year off to a flying start:

  1. Plan a family holiday
  2. Set monthly goals to achieve something big by the end of the year
  3. Call far flung friends and arrange a visit
  4. Clear out your drawers and get rid of stuff you no longer wear
  5. Volunteer your time or expertise for a charity
  6. Sign up to the NHS organ donor register
  7. Book a date with your family
  8. Write out family meal plans to help stick to healthy eating intentions
  9. Start a one-sentence journal of your family’s daily life
  10. Invite a bunch of convivial friends over for a pot-luck meal
  11. Create a vision board for 2018
