So, to begin with, you will need to find out your correct size which you can do with a professional measurement at a respected bra fitter such as Debenhams or Marks and Spencer. The best time to do this would be as close to your due date as possible, though most professionals recommend between 36 and 38 weeks.

5. Cake. No Longer just a delicious snack with your afternoon tea, cake is now a hot new range of maternity and nursing bras! Featuring a unique range with a flexible underwire for nursing mothers, Cake are a big hit with my underwire loving self! Available in a reasonable range, cake are designed to fit most women though they don’t cater to the same cup sizes as other companies. Their bras are supportive, comfortable and beautiful.

4. Blooming Marvellous Mothercare offer a range of pretty nursing bras at affordable prices. They’re comfortable and give a nice overall shape and a decent amount of support. They don’t cover a particularly broad range of sizes, however, so if you’re very slim or plus size and have small or large breasts then you may find these are unlikely to fit you.

3. Mary Bra from Emma Jane. Emma Jane Bras are designed with comfort and simplicity in mind. Covering sizes up a J cup, Emma Jane are some of the most comfortable bras on the market for larger breasts. Having trialled the Mary bra, I was pleased with the shape it created and liked how simple yet elegant it looked. I am a frump free zone, so I was pleased that the bra wasn’t as plain as it had first appeared. I found this really easy to nurse in and was completely unaware of it for the most part, due to how comfortable it was.

2. Hot Milk. Hot Milk Bras are fantastic. I have owned one in many variations as I love them so much. They’re supportive and practical, yet stylish and sexy! They offer up to a H cup in most sizes and up to an E in their smallest size, catering for all shapes and sizes of woman. I like Hot Milk because I think nursing bras tend to be quite frumpy which doesn’t help the cause much, so something with a bit of style is always welcomed when you’re getting used to your new body and role as a mother.

1. Rosie Bra from Freya. I officially LOVE Freya nursing Bras. They are comfortable, true to size and very supportive. As a lover of underwired bras and owner of a large bosom, support is really important to me. As is shape. I was really pleased with the result the Rosie bra provides and didn’t feel frumpy wearing it either. The range also goes up to a HH cup in most sizes. I have found this bra discreet and easy to nurse in and makes me feel like more than just a nursing mother when I wear it. Definitely the kind of underwear to lift your self-esteem. The matching pants are also great at hiding a bit of mummy tummy and giving a nice overall shape.
