EMPOWERING YOUTH

Founder of the non-profit hannah4change.org, Hannah is passionate about environmental conservation and youth empowerment

“I am currently a high school senior and full time big sister. I was passionate about our planet from a young age, but my first involvement in activism began at the age of 10 when I first learned about endangered animals. I was heartbroken to learn that animals that I loved could go extinct in my life time — so I went online and learned which organizations I could support. A year later I founded my own non-profit, Hannah4Change, to develop my own campaigns. Since then I have advocated and spoken out on critical issues our planet faces.

My biggest success so far has been mentoring and inspiring other young people to get involved and speak out. I didn’t have many mentors early on in my activism, so I want to be that role model for others. Being someone young people can turn to is so fulfilling and it is my proudest achievement to support and uplift them.

I graduated high school in May and I’ve just started college this autumn. I am currently working on collecting donations so I can give copies of my book to schools in marginalized communities. In the next few weeks and months I am going to be lobbying in support of bills like the Break Free from Plastic Pollution. I will also be mentoring students across the globe at the Ocean Heroes Bootcamp.”

GET YOUR VOICE HEARD

GET THE KNOWLEDGE Firstly, educate yourself as much as you can. Once you are armed with knowledge, you can educate others.

FIND YOUR WHY Secondly, find your “why”. My “why” is that I want to live on a planet that doesn’t need protecting. You can fall back on your “why” when you face challenges and need motivation to push forward.
